How did you start playing poker? Tell your story.

I always liked cards, backgammon boards like chess lady and other games,
but I started playing poker after watching a poker tournament on television, which had a player like Daniel Negreanu, give but never stopped playing poker

I was taught to play poker and the poker rules, my own father.
If not for him, then most likely, I would never have played poker.
And now I've been playing poker for 10 years.

Funny, I've known how to play since I was a boy watching my family gather every weekend to play various card games.. but have been playing solid for the past 4 yrs now since my daughter was born.. the wife and I started to somewhat drift apart and find our "own things to do" and I found a local free poker league.. then, over time was introduced to local cash games.. tourneys.. then online sites.. and now I'm a junkie like the rest of you.. :rock:

In Lithuania was big viral video then on Lithuanian player in televised tournament accidentally was named "Driving License" (in Lithuanian) (

) . And commentators with serious voice commentated "Here is player from Lithuania Driving License or Ving as his friends call" . So I watched all game and hooked up on game.

Basically how I was introduced to the game. I played with a couple of guys I knew who decided to go back to the house and play Texas holdem one day. Of course he had Rounders on in the background and after that I was hooked. I tried to learn everything I could about the game by reading books and playing online at pokerstars and Full Tilt so that when I played with friends I would do better than I did my first couple of tries at holdem.

Well it started in a Pub called the "Bulldog" I'd been watching a few of the local drug dealers playing Hold'em for a few hours...

They kept looking at me and asking do you want to put your money in and play... I did...

I hardly knew the game but gave it a go any way...

Very quickly I learnt about right from wrong hands and about "Betting Blind" lol even how to use mirrored sunglasses under the edge of the table to get a look at your "Blind Cards" lol

While all those who've seen their cards Pay Double to bet those who are betting blind stand to lose much less...

haha Well it increased the crime rate in our area as after the games were played our Dealers used to have to go out and earn back the money they'd lost at the tables... lol

Yep wow that brings back some awesome memories...

That Pub was closed down demolished and a new shopping parade was built... But nothing really changes...

Good memory, man.
When I started, I did not even know how to play, I went to a small live tournament without even knowing the ranking of hands.
Believe me, I managed to fool them for an hour, I only played with cards that had figures, and also pairs of cards that came from my hand (this was my "strategy" to play that day). I won some pots without opening the cards, but after an hour I was caught hahaha

I was watching TV on live big-scale 1 carpentry. Of course the best poker players were playing and not only did the poker game enjoy the money. Then I registered online but there were still a lot of rooms and lots of free poker tournaments.

My Father taught me the basics of Poker, years ago. He used to let me play some of his hands during "home games" . We used to have a big game at family picnics in the summers. After that I slowly began to learn about the game. i played online during "The MoneyMaker Era" up until Black Friday.

I just never really put 100% into becoming an actual "Pro Player". I was always a break even /slight winner at local casino's and then I started to play online again, after I suffered a work injury. Now I am still playing, but still do not feel as though i ever really committed to a full time schedule.
