How did you start playing poker? Tell your story.

I always liked cards, backgammon boards like chess lady and other games,
but I started playing poker after watching a poker tournament on television, which had a player like Daniel Negreanu, give but never stopped playing poker

I was taught to play poker and the poker rules, my own father.
If not for him, then most likely, I would never have played poker.
And now I've been playing poker for 10 years.

Funny, I've known how to play since I was a boy watching my family gather every weekend to play various card games.. but have been playing solid for the past 4 yrs now since my daughter was born.. the wife and I started to somewhat drift apart and find our "own things to do" and I found a local free poker league.. then, over time was introduced to local cash games.. tourneys.. then online sites.. and now I'm a junkie like the rest of you..
(wife and I are fine btw.. just do more things separate)

Saw, installed, made a Deposit, won money and rushed)))

In Lithuania was big viral video then on Lithuanian player in televised tournament accidentally was named "Driving License" (in Lithuanian) (

) . And commentators with serious voice commentated "Here is player from Lithuania Driving License or Ving as his friends call" . So I watched all game and hooked up on game.

Basically how I was introduced to the game. I played with a couple of guys I knew who decided to go back to the house and play Texas holdem one day. Of course he had Rounders on in the background and after that I was hooked. I tried to learn everything I could about the game by reading books and playing online at Pokerstars and Full Tilt so that when I played with friends I would do better than I did my first couple of tries at holdem.

Was interested in Cardgames since my childhood.

We played a little bit of poker at school for fun, about who has to do the homeworks (so the rest can copy) .

Then i saw my brother play online poker (back in the FullTilt days), and got hyped.

STill playing for those marginal amounts of cash.

My dad played, so i started aswell just for fun and stayed with it ^^

My friend played poker and I also decided to try to play and for four years now I have been playing poker.

I got to know poker through movies and the Internet.

at first place I'm a gamer so, a friend tell me about it too many times.. if u want money, just play poker lol.. one day i was decided to start to learn that new thing.. I remember that I starting to play 10 hours.. now I have almost 4 years.. and I happy for do it.

We were playing some card games in playground in my neighborhood then moved in the basements of the buildings or some abandoned places, also in guys apartments when the parrents were on the job, we played every day for money

Five years ago, I did not even know what poker was. My older brother started playing online poker, and I watched him, gradually learning the combinations. From this point on, I began to explore poker deeper and deeper, watching videos and watching the game of professional players. Since then, poker has literally become an integral part of me.

Well it started in a Pub called the "Bulldog" I'd been watching a few of the local drug dealers playing Hold'em for a few hours...

They kept looking at me and asking do you want to put your money in and play... I did...

I hardly knew the game but gave it a go any way...

Very quickly I learnt about right from wrong hands and about "Betting Blind" lol even how to use mirrored sunglasses under the edge of the table to get a look at your "Blind Cards" lol

While all those who've seen their cards Pay Double to bet those who are betting blind stand to lose much less...

haha Well it increased the crime rate in our area as after the games were played our Dealers used to have to go out and earn back the money they'd lost at the tables... lol

Yep wow that brings back some awesome memories...

That Pub was closed down demolished and a new shopping parade was built... But nothing really changes...

When I started, I did not even know how to play, I went to a small live tournament without even knowing the ranking of hands.
Believe me, I managed to fool them for an hour, I only played with cards that had figures, and also pairs of cards that came from my hand (this was my "strategy" to play that day). I won some pots without opening the cards, but after an hour I was caught hahaha

I was watching TV on live big-scale 1 carpentry. Of course the best poker players were playing and not only did the poker game enjoy the money. Then I registered online but there were still a lot of rooms and lots of free poker tournaments.

My Father taught me the basics of Poker, years ago. He used to let me play some of his hands during "home games" . We used to have a big game at family picnics in the summers. After that I slowly began to learn about the game. i played online during "The MoneyMaker Era" up until Black Friday.

I just never really put 100% into becoming an actual "Pro Player". I was always a break even /slight winner at local casino's and then I started to play online again, after I suffered a work injury. Now I am still playing, but still do not feel as though i ever really committed to a full time schedule.

I starting playing 5 card draw as a kid with my friends. Once I saw Hold’em on ESPN I started playing regularly. I was part of the Moneymaker boom. I never studied until recently and wasted a lot of time thinking a was above studying.

One of my sons took and interest with all the TV coverage. From there we played with some neighbors at the kitchen table. It was fun, so I looked for other avenues to play.

I always liked card games and I know a lot of them. I met poker a few years ago watching a WSOP broadcast and I was amazed by the game and I searched the same day about the game, but I never went deep in my studies. Late last year I decided to read and watch videos and try to improve.

I was searching for a really interesting game on line. I did not like to spend my time killing monsters or destroying colored bubbles! Some moment the search engine presented poker results. I tried it and I liked it very much. I play poker since that little discovery!

i started playing in pub games myself and when the whole online boom happened dont quote me on this but i think it was a site called pacific poker i started on... might of been named different but even still it was always a little slow back in them days and you kinda new people because there wasnt many people registered at first but it was all good fun

well my main reason was sports betting , i joined uniibet and saw they have poker also and i saw they have freerolls so i thought hmmm maybe i win here and play at sports with the money earned from poker , so yeah i find out about poker through sports betting

Simple story, mine like others from poor countrys, was a good way to gain more than a salary and was much easyer cause wasnt needed to get out from house and in that period a lot of freerols but the regulation camed and was more harder cause the promotions dissaperd and was much harder to make money cause they all had acces to information. Still hope that this poker industry will change and get back a lot of promotions and many platforms to chose from.

I had a flat mate from china . he was a real good poker player and even financed his studies with playing at several bigger sites. he "infected" me and i play since 2005.

Well I started playing a card game called Topping is a game my country but then some friends played poker caught my attention and I started playing with them and the first time I played to win and that made him to call me more attention

started dabbling because friend recommended a poker online playing platform. never took it seriously back then.

I come from a christian immigrant family that always believed playing cards was bad. when i was 16 i knew absolutely nothing about poker but was really curious. i downloaded zynga poker and havent stopped playing since.

I am a tour guide in a tropical country doing quite expensive tours and serving wealthy customers. One day I had a customer who professionally plays poker, it is his way for leaving and he doesn't do any other job. He was my inspiration to start playing poker. I am not too good, still tour guide, playing poker for very small money.

I knew how to play poker for a long time, but I was not very keen on playing, and then I also saw Daniel Negreanu playing and I really liked it and I also wanted to play and win something, and I started playing PokerStars and now I play and sometimes win in the game when I play my card well in the game, I like poker and when I have free time I spend there!

I originally started as a kid. We lived out in the country and on really hot summer days, my mom would drag out her big old change jar, divide out the money between herself, me and my brothers and we would play poker all afternoon.

I hadn't played in years and though the "poker boom" was non-sense until I started dating a professional "grinder". This gal would sit at the 3/6 limit table and just murder everyone. Through her, I started playing and developing my game. Eventually, we broke up, but there are some good memories there.

I play poker for about 1 year. As soon as I started playing, I immediately fell in love with this game. Since then, I play almost every day. I get great pleasure from this great game.

I saw A love show, when comes 1 guy and 5 girls choose him, if they like him. They asked him, how he earn money, and he said that he is a pro poker player, after this I started to watch pokerstars studing lessons, made my first deposit and lost it in 5 hours.

A girl friend from Austria invited me to play texas hold em in freeroll ten years ago. That was the beginning... up to now.

The best way to iniciate to play, is watching some videos in youtube, and practicing on Poker stars!!

I started playing with friends for candy untill i became older and saw a tvshow online then slowly grinded freerolls
on every single site i could find, CakePoker Was my main one back in the day and fulltilt, after that i played some smaller buy-in games and sometimes the bankroll went bust :P since i dont really follow brm so much and i was a new player back then... and now here we are

Still grinding some freerolls along with tournaments to get that little extra cash
