I learned poker from family and friends. They played all kinds of variations of poker but it wasn't until I joined the military that I was first exposed to no-limit holdem. Later, I started taking it more seriously when I started playing for free on the internet.

From a very young age I have played all types of card games and was taught by my Grandfather.

I only took Poker seriously back in 2011.

I learned poker in the late 90s playing at friends homes once in a blue moon. Then in 2004 starting playing NLH online and have been hooked ever since. Initially I was on poker stars and the FTP and didn't start studying the game since recently. It had always been nothing more than a recreational activity for me. Now its more an obsession!

I learned the basics on some games when I was teenager from my friends and my sister , but I learned much more ony when I grew up and I watched some tv shows for poker or I started searching on the internet some info , videos , articles about how to play , etc .
But I am still on the learning process to become better :)

My father taught me the basics when I was pretty young.

Rest came from reading books, watching pros and of course, playing :)

Back in 1984 think I was 16 or so. I had helped out this guy painting houses in the Seattle area where I grew up. Anyway to shorten the story he was from San Deigo and was moving back down there and asked if I wanted to move down there and keep painting houses. I wasn't doing anything special so i moved down to Southern California and started working, well sort of when we were not partying. He was from the area so he already had a network of freinds and so every Thursday night we would have a poker night. We played dealers choice which involved , well exactly that what ever game the dealer chose. Most common was 5 card draw and versions of stud with a whole lot of drinking and some other adult party favors tossed in...It was more of an excuse for us to get toghether and party than anything. We would all buy in for a set amount usually 20 dollars sometimes up to 100 or so and every chip represented a quarter with a cap bet of $1 per betting round. and would play until one person had all the money or it became a predetermined time to quit usually 5am if noone had won by than.
was a big party every week. Had that home game for several years always fun. Won a few times but took awhile before that ever happend but looking back I would of paid what I lost just for the party alone was good times. Wish I had freinds like that now, perhaps a few less drinks and a lot less "other" stuff. but the game and companionship for sure.

Although I had played holdem I didn't really play that consistently until It became popular online after moneymaker won the big won. Than got a lot less enthused after the US got screwed by black friday, I don't consider my game style more than just for "entertainment value" since than, Unless I am playing Live Cash than I take it very seriously cause the only reason is to make money. although if I see a cheap buy in while at the casino for a tourney I will give it a shot and have had mixed success but again i would call that "entertainment" rather than something I take serious. Hmmm miss those old home games back before numbers were insta calculating odds outs and percentages...was so much better just being ignorant and enjoying the moment...ahhhh "the good ole days"

I was raised by GreatGrand-Mother. we were very poor. Her wino son lived with her also. He served in WW2 and never recovered from what he went through. So on Saturday nights when I was 11 years old we started playing poker for match sticks. There it is...been a sucker every since.

My brother advised me to play poker. He said it is really interesting game, and it will better if we play it together. So he showed me a basic rules. I was admired this game. Then, i wanted to play like professional players, and i wanted to know more information. After it, i found poker starter, read many articles, watched videos. All in all, i didn't become a proffi, but i play not bad.

I learned through a cousin of mine, and sat down at the table with him and some friends without knowing anything. So I learned how to play pairs, two pairs, crack, full and I started to play the governor of poker, I was dominating the cities and then I was introduced to sites with real money. It was good, but I feel it could be different and better for me.

I tried to play poker on the Internet. A lot of information about poker can be found online, as well as a large number of online games, where you can hone your skills. Good luck in the game
