How did you get interested in Poker?

I myelf started at the moment I turned 18 years old looking for ways to make money on the internet with no success for couple of years only making one or two dolars per week I was demotivatedcguru:

Then I heard about gambling on sports but it wasn't for me, so I saw about poker but did not absolutly nothing about the game so I was playing for 5 tickets of 1$ Spins when they started to promote them
(they gave them to me for my birthday :birthday

Then my cousin heard that I started to play poker and he have been playing for while also so he show me how to play better told me about professionals players the big tournaments and the strategy behind the game and there it was I fell in love with the game hehehe the rest is History :five::dancing:

before black friday (when poker was banned in US) i fell in love with online poker, pokerstars and fulltiltpoker

back in 2008, my uncle allowed me to play a tournament on pokerstars (i was only 16 at the time)

it was my first poker tournament and first online play ever.. i binked the final table and busted 8th..

ever since that day, i fell in love with the game

what a marvellous question and i so enjoy reading how people first became interested in poker.
for me was last spring... i dated this boy from school who played poker, i would meet up with him while he and his buddies played in the education faculty lounge, for small $ stakes.
prior to that my knowledge of the game was playing strip-poker a few times while totally drunk...
that relationship didn't last that long, and one night in bed scrolling TV channels, came to Poker After Dark and started watching.
then Eureka!! - that looks easy & simple i want do that lol... little did i know (dumb blonde) hahaha

I started playing when I saw the TV broadcast more than 10 years ago. Almost immediately, a PokerStars client installed and started playing on play money. At first I liked FL Holdem most of all, and it was in him that I first started playing for real money. About 6-7 years ago, when the game of FL became noticeably worse, I moved to MTT, where I still live today.

Actually Started playing in 6th grade, We played Dice , then went to rummy and then My best friends dad would have Poker Nights with his buddies so when I would spend the night at his house we would have "poker nights' and we did 5 card Draw and Stud for Snacks. My First big hand was an all Black hand in 5 card Draw...and yes.....I do mean all Black like Oceans Eleven type of win

man I miss fulltilt….I loved that site...makes me angry so mny sites want to block US sites ...I am sure US has something to do with that though... ...but Poker is harmless there is way more smut they could be shutting down...sorry if I offended anyone I am very passionate about poker and whenever you find something you like somebody has to ruin it

Played a lot at Pitbull to...heard they were a little shady but I never had any issues

I been playing for years and have seen tons of site shut down or end there services....I wish there were more US sites ...with gambling being passed in a lot more states hopefully they see how harmless poker is and takes off the handcuffs on some of these sites

Indiana just passed live tables ...it is a huge step to a more realistic experieince

Interest

I had always loved card games from childhood (Rummy, etc.) and became hooked on stud and "King Louie" before I found hold'em. Then I was invited to a Hold'em home game, read some online tips before going and had beginner's luck the first game. Been hooked since. Happened at a good time- in the golden age of old online poker in the U.S.

A long time ago I saw how players play poker and win, I liked the game and I started training to play free poker at the beginning, but then I started to play a lot of freerolls and now I play for money or in tournaments or - cash games, -I play freerolls fun because you won’t win a lot in them, but if the game is in my good expensive tournaments, I hope that I’m lucky and I’ll win good prizes and add a great bankroll for myself!

I started playing poker in a regular game with friends. When I got better at it I started playing online. I find live games way different than online games. Different mindset. Definitely a skill game, but it is nice to have luck also!!

I got very interested in playing NLHE after I joined my current employer 14 years ago and found out that they use poker to educate the traders on decision making. Shortly after I started working here, a group of co-workers agreed to help me learn NLHE and we would play several times a week after work. My company runs an annual free roll tournament with a top prize of $15,000. After gaining some experience, I was able to win 2nd place in 2016 for $5,000. I've had a few other cashes in various tournaments and I'm still looking for that big score. It also helps that my wife shares my passion for poker, so over the years we watched a heck of a lot of poker on TV.

When I was 19 I saw a guy sign over his paycheck and put it in the pot. I thought that is a game I will never play. Thirty years later along comes NLTH, table stacks, so I started playing with friends. Then I moved to local charity tournements and won 3 the first year. I was hooked. The only cash games I play are small cash games with friends, other then that I still play tournement games at my local casino when they have them. I do not have the nerve to play cash games in casinos yet. That being said I did play a $500 buy in at the MGM in Vagas once, really enjoyed it, I have only been there twice in my life.

Always had an interest for cards and was taught poker at young age. When the holdem game got popular with televising it, my oldest son enjoyed watching it. From there, a few of us played around the kitchen table. Found the game online and started playing, but not for money.

Was pretty skeptical at first to deposit. Guy from work had played on line and took some doubt away. From then on, I was hooked. Found this forum from a friend in a euchre league we played in. Might a lot great people and spent a lot time playing. Hard to drag some of them away from the poker table to the euchre one though.

My history with poker is so funny, it would deserve a specific thread... but, let's go. since I was a kid, my only contact with poker waas through the movie scenes on tv, so I confess, poker never made me fall in love. When I was about 15 years old, a friend made a short comment telling me that poker was his prefered game (at that time few people played poker in my country), so I asked neither anything about it, I had not any interest on this game.
When I was already an adult I begin to look for a way to use my mathematical abilities to take advantage (translating: get money) in something. During somtime times I tryed to discover a way to be profitable in lotteries, hahahahahha. So I had to make a medical treatment in home during a long time. I had watched youtube videos all day long until having watched all videos and made all researches of my interest on the internet, boring. I couldn't get out my home and nothing to do. I thought about poker, a game that I didnt know. I founded the pokerstars tried to learn something and that play money turns into my hobby. I made my basic counting (advanced to me) but I had ended losing all chips even making a great effort to win, I thought "wow, this game should have any secret that I dont know." I made a research on google "How to win in poker" and I discovered some basic theory and best: professional poker players. Eureka!!! It was what I ever dreamed, eternal addiction love. I didn't stop to play anymore.

When I was about 7 I got this electronic handheld poker game. didn't know or understand anything about the game. but ive been in love with poker ever since. I didn't start gambling or playing texas holdem until I was about 18. Poker is the only game that I can play all day and night long. its the best game I have ever played.
