I`m not a pro but I think studying on this day to refresh your poker concentration is a good method. I win most of the tournements only if I´m really focused in game. I play not two or three long tournements without a break, if I am getting late tourney I cancel all other tournements today. If you`re a online poker beginner try some freerolls and you will see how your opponents play. At the beginning you need to play some games to get to know online poker. I for example never played ring games and once I tried and abrupt lost 20$.

lol at that post 2 spots up, your the type of guy that hes eating up at the casino.
When your not focused there are so many things that your missing, not to mention the other players at the table are just watching you and salivating. You're their big payday most likely if your the guy whos head is not in the game at all.

Sure you can do those things and still be successful, but probably not as successful as you could be.

Thanks for that great inspiring post Aaron, i really appreciate it. I want to do what your doing, so ill take that advice and use it. =D

Cool story bro. Explains why I am just getting destroyed by this poker thing.

Lol funniest thing I've read today.
Come on Marge pull your socks up and get with the program.
You could have won 30K this week instead of that lowly 25K

Well obviously im new here, and not a pro as well.

So apologies to you marginal, i wasnt meaning to be so rude. I guess i read into your post a bit more than i should have. Still though, staying focused seems like the thing to do right?

Since you are obviously a pro, any advice would be helpful.
Like "master the game, before you decide to distract yourself" maybe?

Again apologies.

First, im not a pro.
I'm just a guy who wants to earn some stable cash in poker(at least $50 bucks a week).

Simple advice.
Read forums, books and watch pro play.
Play but don't be too greedy and do not overestimate you skills.
Get yourself a a HM2/PT4 and leak buster it will help you in the long run.

I know my advice is quite different from what you would expect. Like i said , im not a pro, i just enjoy playing poker and earn abit from it.

Fwiw I don't consider myself a pro.

Secondly my point was just that when you are playing live, you get a hand every 2 minutes roughly. You play probably 15% of hands. That means in an hour long period of 30 hands you are only playing 5. The other 25 hands you aren't playing, most of them are just raise pre flop and Cbet type hands. There isn't a whole lot of info to be gained from that, that you can't get from a simple glance. Obviously you pay attention to big pots even when not involving you but there is no point in being 100% focused cause you are just going to wear yourself down. Playing live is like watching paint dry sometimes. The distraction is a good thing.

Well, I will tell you my story.

I am a guy living in Redlands, CA making a living as a Poker Player I don't want to say Professional Poker Player because i don't know why.

I've been playing NL Texas Hold em since a young age. About 3 years ago I fell really deeply into the game. I lost lots. Thousands and thousands. 30,000$ if you want a price tag on it. My mistake was starting at a casino, not reading up on books of the game, not studying strategy not dedicating myself enough to the learning part of Poker and not to mention starting off at those ridiculous stakes 1-2 Poker. If you can imagine practically losing, on a daily basis 100 bucks can add up.

...
Aaron

Your post should be a obligatory reading for some people thinking it's possible and almost easy be a millionaire playing poker. Here in CC I already saw a lot of posts saying "I made a BR playing micro stakes and after that I lose all my money in a day at the 5/10 cash games. What I'm doing wrong?"

A professional must be professional in any work, including poker.

Fast forward 2 years to now. I no longer lose no more. I make about 200+ bucks a day. On someday's I make even more. I play Live NL 1-3 Hold em. Today for example I made a nice payday of 441.00$. I have been constantly making about 200-500 on a daily basis. Now, I still do have my bad days, Aces cracked, Flush over Flush, Bad Coin Toss (which i strongly recommend never doing) 50/50% odds are not good odds. And a bad session of tilt play.

Going on tilt will destroy any dream and chance of playing Poker and making a living might as well just keep working. If you cannot be mentally disciplined then Poker is not for you. If you think that you can just so casually jump up in blinds and think your okay you might as well just give them your money.

I recommend studying at least a minimum of 2 hours a day maybe even 3 if your hardcore enough I study for 3 a day. Reading, watching videos, Taking out a deck of 52 cards and studying hand positions, what would you do in these situations, against these kind of players, making a graph, keeping balances, how to make as much money as possible out of a hand. Study the math part of it too. Your whole point of studying is too develop a strong sense of focus in the game. If you can focus very good then it will make you a decent player.

Now, if you are a person who goes online or a casino, you take out your phone, you listen to music, you eat, you watch TV, your watching the family, your talking on the phone, then please, just stop playing Poker you are throwing your money away.

Think of it like a job, would a real professional job allow any of that at work? Of course not you would be fired eventually. Poker is the same way you need to give it everything. And I do mean everything. And once you gave it everything give it even more. That is how you become good at NL Poker and make a living as a Professional.

Good Luck

Aaron

Great man, thats because I just play for hobby
