Poker has made many positive changes in my life, although it is has also consumed a lot of my spare time (but I'm okay with that!).
1. In playing poker, I have learned how to read people, which I have found useful in daily life in understanding how others might be thinking/feeling and responding accordingly. I'm kind of an awkward person, so this has helped me to be more comfortable in social situations because if I can read people, I can adjust to better relate to them.
2. Poker has become a part of my identity (in that people associate me with the game), which has afforded me valuable opportunities like organizing charity tournaments, getting invited to play or deal at events, etc.
3. As a university student, I have learned to use poker to assist with time management. E.g. If I want to enter a tournament, I'll set goals/deadlines for what I have to accomplish to reward myself with playing. Poker is also great for stress relief
