I think for starters, you should try to build your bankroll by playing freerolls. In addition, playing in freerolls you will gain valuable experience and be able to improve your skills. Start small and step by step, you will reach your goal. Good luck.

I agree with you, start with small tournaments and move up when I feel safer and more prepared.
And in the freerols, I'm gaining experience and improving my game.

freerolls tend to be far too difficult to win consistently, there are too many entries. Any tournament with over 500 entrants will need alot more luck than skill.

Best to keep to 100 buys in before moving up to higher entry fees and same goes for cash games but cash games can be better for building a bankroll due to being able to make money after a few hours rather than waiting 5+ hours to get into the bubble of a tournament.

it is better to focus on this game, on your cards, on the right decisions, follow the game of your opponents and this will save you from unnecessary thoughts.:)

Yes, this is the way the game goes, the profits move following a mathematical sequence. It needs to have stability and not to do moves that you will regret.

I personally want that big one timer to just set me up and give me the chance to focus 100% and not have a 9-5. By big Id only need a $20k score to wipe my debt, give me a workable roll and a cushion for a year, so I feel thats obtainable. Working hard for it. In the meantime little by little is just fine. :D

I believe You could try Sit&go tourney those are good for practice to learn all about ICM adn you could get good payout playing 3$-5$-7$ SNGs make good bank there and play every day or two MTTs of the same buy-in I think is good strategy to constanly participate on MTTs and hope to finally take that win while playing SNGs growing your bankroll slowly and with less risks little by little

SNG $ 3-5 $ -7 $ is a dead discipline, only regulars play there.

Hi.
I think you need to set achievable goals for yourself and day after day, gradually work to achieve them. Progress must be gradual, not explosive. Money will come to you with experience. Just play poker, improve your skills and enjoy the game.
Good luck.

The best way to win slowly but surely is with cash games, but first you should clearly establish a study of bankroll management and pre-flop play, otherwise the losses will be big.

Seems the way to make wealth in anything including poker is to make it little by little. The temptation to make a lot of money fairly quickly is a trap. The whole marketing of the WSOP main event is all about winning 10 million dollars in 5 days but really your only going to win probably $10000 each time you play it if you play it enough. How do you get out of mindset of trying to win big in each tournament you play?

Play freerolls and output everything that is divisible by 5 ... otherwise there will be no plus.

playing freerolls to save up for a bank roll and playing micro-limits on a bank roll is quite real

For each separate cash table, you cannot take more than 5% of your bankroll

Once you can start playing smaller games, buying in for small stakes, you become aware that in really it is the only way to make any head way in Poker., Sure some players may hit the big numbers with one MTT game, but in reality they start to chase bigger and bigger numbers until they lose everything.
Most Pro's will play a wide range of small stake games all at the same time (multi tables) but they don't risk their entire bankroll on one game, that is madness and a sure way to losing money, Don't put all your eggs, into one basket, is a good way of looking at it.
Even on the stock market, dealers will spread their cash over a wide range of different stock's and share's so that if one goes broke, they don't! Poker is exactly the same and if approached in the same way you can make money in the long run.
It all depends on yourself and how you play, being a Tournament Director at our Local Pub I ran a weekly game and noticed that some of the more aggressive players would win once in a while, but sometimes they would bust early on and get no points for that week, and because we ran a league system it was the slow steady players who eventually made the top 4 places in the league, and went on to play at the quarterly semi-finals.

When the fun Stops, STOP!

Yes, of course I would like to win big money at once and take high places in the final tables of poker tournaments. But while playing, I don't think about the prize money, I think about how to win a particular hand. It helps you focus on the game rather than the money.

i read article wroten by Jonathan Little, he said that the easyier way to build fast 1000 $ bankroll is quite easy. We need to play 6 max sit and goes with 5-7 % ROI and then after couple-6 months may have a 1000 % :)

Play in a disciplined manner. Be patient and realize that bad beats are a part of the game.

If you get frustrated and on tilt take a break for an hour, a day, several days... whatever it takes.

In your time away from poker focus on things that you heed to do, especially things that have been neglected.

Spend time with your dog if you have one. If you have more than one, better still.

Take a bath, clean a room, paint a wall....

Read a book that you've been meaning to read.

Go to the beach.

Pray.

It would be really nice if Fairy Stories came true, but in reality, they don't. Once you realise this, and that it very rarely happens, that someone can win a huge amount of money playing Poker, then you can start to accept smaller wins and victories.
I am certain someone from a poor background can finish being in a huge tournament on the final table and make a life changing money, I have seen it on You-tube Videos, but it is very, very rare. Poker is a strange and sometimes a vicious game, and if you risk everything on one MTT you will probably be disappointed and finish going out before the bubble.
This is why they hold Satellite games so that players with smaller Bankrolls can make their dreams come true, and it always makes great headlines, that a player won a major tournament from a small buy-in, The best advertisement in the World for the Poker community, and of course the poker sites.
Once you can accept that Fairy Stories, don't come true that often, and in all reality you have to be happy with smaller wins, then you can approach the game with a different mind and enjoy the game more.

When the fun Stops, STOP!

Cash games and sit&go's are option to build bankroll playing little by little, mtt's wont build your bankroll that way because goal for playing mtt's is to make final table and aim for top scores to make back money u put in for buy-ins.

With tourneys it's always difficult to stop thinking about the big score.
At times, one does get lucky and score big.:):):)
However the goal should be to have good number of cashes, Final Tables and some wins.

With time we all come on terms that although winning big tourney once is a dream, but its more about consistently increasing our Bankroll little by little.

Its more about volume and edge than wishful thinking.

It all depends on the goal I set for myself. If the goal is to enjoy the game, then nothing else matters.
