Seems the way to make wealth in anything including poker is to make it little by little. The temptation to make a lot of money fairly quickly is a trap. The whole marketing of the wsop main event is all about winning 10 million dollars in 5 days but really your only going to win probably $10000 each time you play it if you play it enough. How do you get out of mindset of trying to win big in each tournament you play?

you don't if you are playing in MTT
If you want little by little cash games or spins or everything else for you

I tend to get tempted by the big score so i play bigger buy-ins which just causes me to get frustrated when i lose. Really the whole idea of i'm going to win this bigger tournament is fairly slim. I should be going in thinking I'm going to play my best game and not focus on the money side of things. I can still play the bigger buy-ins but not be frustrated when i lose if i think like this.

I wanna be skilled at playing poker rather than thinking about all the money all the time. Playing the smaller buy-ins gives you practice of getting skilled. That's why I should play smaller so I get more play time.

I like live tournaments and had some success there playing $50-$250 buy-ins but online I play $5 tournaments for 3 days and then go and play bigger buy-ins for the money. Some buy-ins in the thousands due to winning a satellite or just having the money to play them. This temptation of money is screwing with me and not allowing me to play unless I deposit more money which doesn't happen until i get paid.

I think that everything goes around the volume of the game and banking management and the correct application of strategies that allow you to minimize the errors that will always exist, but keeping them low makes it a lot of money in the long term that can be lost.

I need to listen to players who say you need 200 buy-ins for mtt's and follow that advice and just play play play and study study study and constantly get better in my decisions while playing rather than focusing on winning $2 or $20 million. I can also play live occasionally with no bankroll considerations but with the intent of making the correct decisions learnt from playing small stakes online tournaments which are played every day.

I believe You could try Sit&go tourney those are good for practice to learn all about ICM adn you could get good payout playing 3$-5$-7$ SNGs make good bank there and play every day or two MTTs of the same buy-in I think is good strategy to constanly participate on MTTs and hope to finally take that win while playing SNGs growing your bankroll slowly and with less risks little by little

I believe that a 40 buy-in box is enough to play, the problem is that many want to level up very quickly, because they think they already know how to play and end up losing all the profit obtained in the smaller buy-ins. If you play at least 20 tournaments per day for 30 days and are in profit, then you can level up, but if you start losing, go back to the previous level

I use a 500x BI for most MTTs and 600x BI for a larger field.

I am very cautious about my BI rule as you can see, I can never go bust if I stick to it :D

I'm aware of ICM but i tend to make a riskier plays and go for a big stack since I think that it will give me a edge over the remaining players. My strategy is to play to try and win the tournament.

Trying to move away from winning a extra $1 to finishing as high as I can. Playing sngs are a good idea though. Might play a few.

I'm going to forget about winning $100,000 or even $3 for a min cash in a $1.65 mtt and focus on trying to win the tournament with no $ on my mind no matter of what the buy-in is. I will have some sort of bankroll strategy with hundreds of buy-ins online for my main game and extra money for bigger buy-ins and live mtts. If I bust through the extra money for the bigger buy-ins I'm not going to keep playing the bigger buy-ins until i go bust and have to wait until I can play again even at the $2-$5 MTT's. Quite a bit degen there in that regard and it has cost me thousands after i brick the bigger buy-ins or if i happen to win money i just go and spend it just as quick.

1. Find your format - be it MTTs, SnGs, cash, doesn't matter, you need to be comfortable and like it :) (not to mention understand the rules of the format ;) )
2. Choose stakes according to your skill and bankroll. Strictly follow the bankroll management rules (you can set them yourself depending on level of confidence or just follow general advice)
3. Get better :D Study, study, study.
4. Check your winning rate and repeat point 2. and 3. ;)

And remember - some ppl are just not meant to be winning long term. Like me . Accept it, move on :D

I think for starters, you should try to build your bankroll by playing freerolls. In addition, playing in freerolls you will gain valuable experience and be able to improve your skills. Start small and step by step, you will reach your goal. Good luck.

Entering the money games according to the money bank you have, my suggestion is to play the tournaments that the cost is 10% of your bank.

If you're looking to win little by little will take a longer time by far but minimize losing especially when you are playing 200 or 300 buy in because you can easily cover losing streaks .. then winning streaks will have you up a lot high reward low risk

Poker as a whole in my opinion is about continual small improvements. While big scores are great they don't happen very often and are largely luck. What you can work on is consistently making good decisions at the poker table, and if you keep improving yourself and your game you will eventually get results amounting to a worthwhile return!

hello

Maintain a gambling behavior and not be tempted to play tournaments that our bankroll cannot withstand, it is difficult not to get into temptation but it is best not to play those tournaments in the long run we stumble over the same stone and we start again.

100 bains is not enough

Proper bankroll management will do that. Take what you think is decent bankroll management and double it. The variance will be a lot less brutal after this.
