How long?

I guess it wood mostly depend on the person. I am sure there are people out there who could go for at least 24 hours with the hourly break. I feel pretty crappy after just a few hours but if I am a long tourney I try to do other things and try to stare at the screen for to long at a time. Kind like read or clean my gun. Good luck at the tables!

I played 10+ hour sessions with small breaks in between and food breaks. Tried many times to do over and the body becomes tired and making irrational decisions and poor judgement. I think quality of the hours put into poker should be more important than the quantity. Definitely need breaks to catch your breath, bathroom breaks, cigarette break or whatever the case it might be.

Hello, I ask the following question: it can be an online game and a live poker.
My question is this: how long can a person play poker, giving the best for the game?

Also ask them what they think about the current tournament formats regarding playtime. They think it's ok or if something needs to be modified. regards

I played for 2.5 days straight at casinos.

I think (of course persons can be different) person can play 3-5 hours and do the best. it does not matter online poker or alive...
Of course when you sit at home it is more conveniently because you sit at good chair, you can make time-brake at any time for drink water for example or something else, you can on music what you like or off light and etc... and you must to endure laugh music at poker club, or some person who do not loke you and etc.
But any ways after some times human must have to rest this is human nature. I think max time is 5 hours to do not mistakes. And again one man can drink one glass of vodka or kognak and be normal but another can not drink even one spoon of such drinks. Therefore maybe someone can play maybe even 24 hours in a row.

It really depends on how much prepared the player is. So generally a person can be really focused for 40 minutes in a lecture or something like this, but poker is different, i think that it gos to something like 3-4 hours fucosed on a poker table. Adrenalin helps hahaha

Differs for each person and day to day

I think every person is different from day to day and there are many factors that come into play; how much sleep you got the night before, did you have a bad poker day the day before, are you over emotional today, etc...

For me, I can play most days for 8-10 hours before I start feeling drained and like I am not at my best. However, I think the 5 minute breaks at times are too short when you are in long tournaments (4+ hours). I think that once it hits the 4 hour mark then you should get like a 15 minute break to grab food. I know that is usually one of my biggest downfalls in long tournaments. I start to get so hungry and I can only eat so many snacks. I eventually need real food. Otherwise 5 minutes to go to the washroom and grab a drink/snack is sufficient.

I think the amount of time it takes to play poker in a single match cannot be accurately determined. It depends on a lot of things. for example, what kind of game you play, how you sat down to play (after work or rest), who your opponents are, etc. Personally, I can concentrate on playing for 2-3 hours, but as time goes on I make more mistakes.

Poker is a little crazy. It's like when you're in love. And happy in love do not pay attention to the clock.

I can play 5 hours if it's not middle of the night, then I must have little break to let go pressure and to rest my eyes, then I can continue to play 4 hours more

Instead of calculating the size of your sessions by hours, I suggest that you determine their size by the number of hands you need to play per day to meet your weekly / monthly norm.

The reason I advise you to do this is because we all play at different numbers of tables and in different game formats. When I actively grinded at 20 + tables, the duration of my session was reduced to reaching the mark of 3000 hands. Now, when I play at a much smaller number of tables, the size of my session is 1500 hands. At 8-10 tables, I will play this number of hands in about 2 hours, and then go on a long rest. Sometimes I won't go back to the tables at all on this day if I get a bad streak.

Below is the average number of hands per hour for various online poker formats:

Full ring-75
6-max-90
Fast poker - 200-250
Thus, if you, for example, usually play at four 6-max tables and can stay focused for about two hours, then your session should last about 700 hands: 4 6-max tables = 360 hands / hour * 2 hours = 720 hands in two hours.

the amount of time depends on each person one day in front of the screen already messes with the neurons ..

It's true when we take a tournament that takes so long we get crazy.

Man oh man! When I was a poker dealer we had a regular by the name of ... "Bourbon Bob!" He would show up on Friday evening with his paycheck (every week) and stay until it was gone. He would drink bourbon the entire time he was playing, and when he went on a heater he would regularly stay 48-72 hours straight! It was a sad thing to witness over the course of 7 years. His habits never changed.

The amazing thing about the "marathon" sessions is that the outside observer (me, the dealer) could clearly see how exhaustion was killing gameplay, but the player was oblivious to their faults. What I've identified is a very fine line in what a dealer is allowed/expected to say, and when the dealer is supposed to just "shut up and deal."

Moral of the story?

Get your rest! This game will be around for a long time and you have your whole life to make money/play. You can't make your retirement in one session.

I played offline 18-24 hours in the row, online 12 hours. Optimal time for me 4-8 hours.

I think the most is 10 hours with breaks in between after that the stress and math is taxing. At least for me i can't even go for 2 hours without standing up and going to the bathroom or getting a snack but thats just my novice self.
I already spent a day playing but it is very stressful ..

I played for 16-18 hours all the time, but in the end I couldn't concentrate on the game and made a lot of mistakes.
this happens a lot to me after many hours playing start to go in weak hands ..

I think everyone has a different capacity for what they can do. I generally can play for about 6 hours before I feel mentally fatigued. However, if I have one of those nights where I feel all I am doing is playing catch with the dealer, I lose my focus much earlier.

I can play poker all day and night. Only thing what would be more great is level time set to 3 minutes. I love that you can reach a finnal table in 2 hours. I hope that Turbo tournament will be more popular than 10 minute blind tournaments.

I played for 24 hours straight and experience was not good, much sleep and tiredness. I think the ideal without disturbing your reasoning is up to 10 hours straight!
