Apparently, many of us are quite skilled players who earn extra income by playing poker. So here's a little survey to find out what your average monthly income from the game is.
I should note that I make an average of $50 to $100 a month.

odds, probabilities are: no matter how skilled a player is, there is alwayws ergression tothe norm, or mean(average). Meaning, everything evens out, long term. For a stretch of games, you get the cards and win money. Then, you are card-dead and lose money; it all evens out. That's why it helps tohave a "hope I win,and beat the odds against me.." attitude. Ten player table, there will be only one big winner and nine runners up.

Then why is it that the 'more skilled' players are winning more often in the long run?
Why is it that some players are able to move their way up through the buyin levels in cashgames whereas many others cannot?

Honestly what you're describing sounds more to me like blackjack or something similar where skill edge is close to even.

The circumstances are such that lately there is almost no opportunity to play poker, therefore there is no income.

Like Luvpoker not really sure how to answer. I think 30% making over 1k a month is a bit high thou unless majority of that 30% are only counting or playing live. Making 1k/month from only playing online isn't that easy.

Winning player here but only play for a hobby/fun and very limited(part-time) schedule. Have been doing challenges for a number of years and going from $50-5k or 2nl-50nl. No idea what my monthly avg is honestly never figured it out. I'm guessing it would pretty low as I've been playing 20+ some years. Some of those years were with a shit ton of volume some years I played very rarely or not at all. Plus 2-3 years off over them 20 years.

Also I honestly don't know how skilled I am as I mostly play full-ring and them majority of players and tougher players play 6 max. Also never been above 50nl cash but I'm also very comfortable and don't feel out of place playing as high as the Sunday Million when it comes to MTT's.

Cheers!!!

Winning player but ghost town schedule due to a variety of reasons.

Phil Ivy’s quote about being able to take a $100 bill out of your pocket and burn it makes so much more sense to me now.

My biggest hinderance has been needing to/not being able to resist withdrawing large chunks of big scores and being far too cavalier with BRM and relying on being able to beat the variance to replenish quickly!

Guess my initial model of generating buy-ins from freerolls and therefore making 100% profit & 0% loss with a sprinkling of over-confidence probably led to those egotistical mistakes.

Ever trying to evolve & improve though so feel positive that it can be worked on successfully moving forward. 🙏☯️

Can only speak for me: I play live and it's my main source of income. As such, I mean, it's not like 1000€/month is very high; if it were lower, that would be a problem.

I hear you. But 1k/month is kinda a huge/high number for 30% to making per month when only 5-10% of the total players are winning players to start with. In that context does it sound reasonable that 30% here make 1k/month. Highly questionable 30% make 1k a month when most of us likely play micro stakes online and 90%+ are losing players.

Now playing 1/2, 1/3 and 2/5 live....1k is a smallish amount per month.

PS. Overall % now down to 25% that make 1k/month. Still high in my opinion considering 90% of players are losing players.

Cheers!!!

I don't count how much money I earn. I play a lot of tournaments every day. But I can say that this money is not enough even for a minimum wage in Ukraine. That's why I try to combine poker and freelancing. But, of course, I believe that I will hit a jackpot one day!

Can't edit my comment above now too late. Wanted to add this too it.....

I mean I guess if one lives in a country where one can afford to live off of 1k/month they could grind enough at 2nl to make that in theory. Not sure what quality of life and real life balance one would have thou. I'd guess pretty terrible. I mean you'd likely need to 10-12 hours of poker everyday and 7 days a week. I'd rather a real job 8 hours a day/5 days a week. But to each their own I guess.

Above 2nl it's kind of nit-land on pokerstars(and gets tougher) so pretty hard to make 1k a month from nit-land(5nl-10nl).

Cheers!!!

For me there is no right answer, I have been playing freerolls for the last few years and I only pay money to play satellites, I don't have a specific amount because it depends on the value of the tickets and it is not regular.

I think it depends of the month. Nowadays I'm only playing freerolls when I have time to play and this month I cashout around $60. Unfortunately poker rooms are offering each day less freerolls :(

It all depends on a lot of different factors such as your win rate, how often you play, how many tables, etc.It is important to understand that most poker players actually lose over the long term when taking into account the rake, and they lose to the top players. The money you can expect to make in poker will always depend on the people you play against.I have $50 to $100.

I manage to make between $25 and $50 a month. Although there are 1-2 months a year when I make $200-$300. But I should definitely note that I manage to earn money primarily thanks to my membership in CardsChat :)

Follow up question: how many people here primarily made money in cardschat events? I'm one of them lol. Perhaps I'll get out there and play more events, but online is more convenient in many ways and cardschat is definitely the place to be :)

Most wins over past year have come from cash games or live casino tournaments - however BR has been focused on moving home and having a holiday so priorities in order.
Looking to get back into freerolls as a supplement to existing monthly budget for poker, CC is a great place to be for that amongst many other reasons.

If you really look at my statistics, I have from $25 to $50 per month. I could have more, but unfortunately I don't have much time to play. For example, last year, my average monthly income from gaming was between $50-100. This year, I play much less.

My monthly profit is about $50-70, at least that's what my statistics look like for the last 12 months. I hope that next year I will be able to reach a stable $100-120, at least I have this goal.
