Hi friend.

I would love to earn a living with this game, but I still insist on trying to win a good tournament and build a bankroll, because now every month I put aside a lot of money, to be able to play at other tables besides the Freeroll.

it's a real uphill battle trying to make a living online. pros cant even do it. too much variance and you can never really trust any site period. time and time again that has been proven. stick to weekly or monthly casino trips and or if you are that serious about your game consider moving to a city like reno or somewhere you could find a career in the industry to support your tournament buyins live.

I have a job and I don't depend on anyone financially. Poker is my hobby and if I can make some money from poker, so much the better.

just dont be like me when i was younger at least. i would think about poker all day at work at my min wage job, so i had to really pace myself after a big loss. not doing that put me in the hole considerably on more then one occassion unfortunately. i would have been much better off just moving to reno and becoming a poker dealer 20 yrs ago. since i couldnt get it off my mind.

We all came to win at poker, but it pays to use our resources properly for maximum success.

To make the move to high stakes and be financially independent you need a lucky bink in a good tournament 109$ + stake then you can hope for a high level career in poker.

Financial independence for me is when I don't depend on anybody because I earn money by myself and have a stable job.

Every day I see poker players looking for freeroll passwords and freeroll tickets.
It is common to see the same players mirroring players like Negreanu and Live Boeri.
But the important thing is to understand why these players live poker, they can live from poker because they already have financial stability and they can afford to travel the world to play big poker tournaments.
For those of you who are starting out in poker and want something beyond what freerolls can offer, I advise you to play the freerolls whenever possible, but never give up your true professions.
Through their professions and their regular jobs, you can use some of the money to play big online or live poker events, when you win some millionaire event you can quit your regular jobs and live in poker.

Very True! and it applies to everything in life, Whether you want to be a Rock and Roll Superstar or a Poker Superstar, it requires hard work and dedication to reach the top in any profession, So don't give up your day job until you reach the top.

When the fun Stops, STOP!

may even be able to form a good bankroll playing freeroll, but it takes many years and lots of wisdom and discipline. The ideal is to play great games and use freerolls and micro limit only as learning

It sometimes seems to me that players who want to make a living playing poker lose more money in the game than others. They have high expectations for the game. And more successful players are an indicator of success for them.
I think people who think to make money playing poker are very gambling people.

But I'm not saying it's impossible. Poker is not only about luck. Everyone just thinks they are smarter than the rest.

Whoever is born full of money in the bank does not need to work, just travel at the expense of the slaves. Never analyze a human being by the amount of money he has. And yes, because of your attitudes.
This possibility of winning a great tournament and making a living from poker is the most impressive.

Poker is a sport and just like any sports, the vast majority plays it for fun and entertainment.
Only a very very small percentage plays any sports as a pro and makes a living from it.

I tend to disagree. You don't have to be a Negreanu or Boeri to make a moderate living playing poker. Go ahead and start out by playing freerolls, but they will never get you to where you want to be if making a living playing poker is your goal. Here's my story. I've built up small stakes on several sites with freerolls, less than $100 each, but the site I play the most on I bought in several years ago with $25. My wife thought it was a waste of money and laughed at me, totally expecting me to lose it. I played in $1 ring games and $1 SNGs until I built it up to $150. Took a long time, more than a year. Once I reached a 50:1 stake to buy-in ratio, I started playing in $3 dollar games. After a while, I deduced my temperament, patience level and experience were best suited for the triple up SNGs, so that's the game I decided to build my on-line expertise in. Once my stake reached $350, maybe about seven or eight months later, I advanced to the $7 triple up SNG games. Once I reached $750, in less than six months, I advanced to $15 triple up SNGs. I always maintained a minimum of a 50:1 stake to buy-in ratio. Over the next year I advanced to $25 and then $50 triple up SNGs. Since then, I've increased my stake to $15,000 for a 300:1 stake to buy-in ration and that's what I've maintained ever since. Except for when I hit bad beat losing streaks, and there have been a few even though I've always managed to grind my way back, I typically average $100 to $300 a day profit while playing three to six hours. I'm retired, so it's a nice supplement to my income and my wife is astounded at what I've done. She even checked all of our financial and bank records to verify I didn't sneak any more money onto the site other than the original $25 buy-in. I've even shown her the site records to prove my case. Granted, $100 to $300 a day isn't a substantially significant income, but it could be used to explore other avenues.

Good luck
