I sat down at $1/$3 NL last night. A few hands in I wake up with Pocket Aces.
Already I knew the player directly to the left of me has no regard for playing correctly.
I limped knowing he would raise and I hoped his raise would not mean anything to anyone else at the table so I could re-raise a much larger pot.
Like clock work.
I limp on the button $3, he raises from SB to $18
5 callers.
Back to me raise to $80.
He min re-raises $160.
All initial callers of the limp/raise/call folded and is back to me. I know my hand is the best to start but almost guarantee that at least 1 out of the 5 players had to of had an ace. I'm drawing to 1 to zero outs if I call.
I shoved hoping he knew I had aces it has to be 100% obvious by this point. I would have been happy to take down the pot right there.
I'm all in for a total of $300 PF.
He calls. With pocket 7's. I know this is an 80/20 but recalculate and think that no one may have had a 7 PF. So I'm taking this down to a 60/40 because he has outs and I might have the case ace buried in the muck.
Spikes a 7 on the river.
It was sick.
Pulled out my wallet re-bought and decided not to play against a gambler for the time being and rather play against other tourists. It's near impossible to get into a hand without him in it.
So he's gone to show down several times with suck outs on the turn or river.
I notice if I raise $18 PF, and then bet out $12-$20 on the flop he will re-raise me every time.
After a couple hours and a few decent sized pots I was able to grab off the other players, my stack is near $600, about even from the $300 suck out earlier.
I'm still waiting him out at this point. Waiting for a bigger hand to crush him. I normally play strong = strong, weak = weak. Changed it up here shortly. strong bets = strong, strong bets = weak.
About half an hour later he's losing his luck and starting to slowly bleed chips, his luck is running out. But he has almost $1K in front of him. We all know what happens to maniacs in longer sessions they will eventually lose it all.
He sucks out on a tourist for a gut shot straight draw on the river. Now, he has $1,200 and I'm starting to get frustrated. A little impatient and a little drained. Still sitting on $600.
I get ATs on the button. Not great, not horrible, folds all around.
I raise he re-raises and I flat call.
Flop is As 7d 10d
I lead out and bet $12 knowing he's going to re-raise me again. He will re-raise with absolutely anything.
Re-raise to $50
Back to me. He looked at his cards in a really stupid way and I saw a 2d
I raise. $300. HUGE BET RIGHT? $50 to $300 WHO MAKES THAT CALL?
He did.
Turn was a 6d most likely giving him the flush.
He said all in. And Since I pot committed myself to a maniac calling station on the flop I called out of frustration. a -2BI night is not that bad, it was probably a good time to call it quits.
So I have 4 outs. any ten, any ace, and I don't think they're coming. I'm ready to go home and pretend his face is my punching bag.
And like Barry Greenstein's book is titled. "Ace on the River"
I didn't want to turn it over. Huge suck out but I wanted to see his BS hand. I held my cards over like I was going to muck them. I told him "You're good." So I could see this disgusting hand worth $300 on the flop.

I then showed him the boat I made, which I didn't even need. Why he called a $300 bet on the flop needing a runner runner for the lowest flush possible is beyond me.
Now, I stacked off $600 and I get a $1200 pot and he's sitting on $600.
Immediate next hand I was going to fold Qs Jh but it was just me and him. I raised this time he flat called.

WOW what a helluva flop. I check he bets $30 I flat call in the off chance he has pocket 6's.

Same I check he bets $90 this time. I call.
River Qs.
Wow, I hope he stacks off right? Not likely I mean wtf? You hardly ever profit from quads unless you have pocket QQ and the flop is AQQ and someone else has AA. Thats usually about the only time you can make a profit with that.
I kind of wanted to confuse him. I led out and bet $20 into a $270 almost $300 pot. And this happened.
Maniac: "I'm all in."
Of course I called. The maniac is now busto and I have $1800 in front of me and got a $40 bonus for quads which isn't shit in comparison to the past 2 hands. I gave the $40 to the dealer. Waited one orbit and right before the blinds hit me I took off. So I leave with a total of $1840. Profit of $1240. Threw the $40 into video poker spinning max bets on the penny machine for $1 a spin. Within 8 spins I hit my 2nd royal on those machines and made $880 on top of everything else.
All in all. After last night. I would love to sit to the right of the maniac I was sitting next to last night.
Total Profit including Video Poker Royal: $2420. Last night was by far EPIC!
