I see poker being about risk management, variance and things like this, but nothing such as these "myths"

I do not pay attention to all kinds of mystical things, astrological predictions or mythical stories and do not see the need for amulets. But I think luck loves patient, disciplined and skillful players.

the poker superstitions.. you can see it the moment you enter casino.. chairs in reversed position, "hot" cards (today im playing any deuce cause today they are winning), people refusing to change big chips in fear they might lose their "luck". also first win at new table always means you are destined to bust first. also the standard "ace on the river".

i guess you can say favorite hands like texas dolly are in the same category. some people want to just have fun, some actually believe its "magic" hand.

I personally do not believe there is a poker myths or some stuff like that. I have been playing poker since 2006 and no there is nothing like this in the world of Poker

The biggest myth is looking for any hand; high pairs and suited connectors included. You play enough hands, you know that anything can lose. To look to play hands that have good starting odds(pocket pairs), with possibilities, (suited connectors, open ended straights.) Poker is hard, but it is better to have the odds on your side than myths and "magic cards,"

No. Not even in anything.
Myths are created by stories or acts that happened multiples times throughout the years in poker, (maybe by pros) but that doesn't mean it will still happen. People are just affected and amazed by how "these coincidences", I would name them, have happened and put them in their game, it works few times but not always.
For instance if I did believe in the "always coming 7" thing... I wouldn't like keep on betting till the river believing that the "7" would show up with a 1% possibility. . It could happen but that would be just luck not a myth, and when it does, unintentionally we are like 'phew, how lucky that was', not because you went for the myth. :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
I wouldn't expect anyone to believe in poker myth because you would get nothing out of poker.

Ever play in a casino? When u transport your chips from and to the table, u use a rack. I have lost an entire rack because I sat at the table for too long after racking up getting ready to leave and while waiting for the button, set over set happens and I lose the rack. Not only have I lost racks like this before, I have also taken racks off people who put their chips in a rack and not leave immediately after.

no, but I love playing people that do believe in them. I even encourage and compliment them for them for calling a pot sized bet on a gut shot draw. "Man, I am not that brave, I'm too big of a coward to do that", yang, stuff like that.

myth or superstition are two different things
myth is unrealistic fears
superstition is a tradition of ancestors so as not to frighten off luck
I personally do not believe in either the first or the second

Haha, thats what I was just about to ask although I admit I didnt read the whole thread. The only superstition I can think of is holding 66 and a six comes on the flop lol. Unless 2 sixes are flopped is it a bad omen?
That being said I now have 67 posts, not 66 anymore
