Hi guys.
I was playing a ring game today, folding, folding, folding, then all of a sudden - WHAM - win a $120 pot - very nice.
Anyway, it go me thinking. How could I describe poker in a sentance (sad?
)
My though is this "lose small pots, win big ones" I appologise if this has been said by other ppl, but what I mean is...
The maniac who trys to put u all in every hand. Forget about the rest of the table, just think about you. How many times is he gonna have to do that to show a profit? And it worked out that against me only, 8 times (4 small blinds, 4 bb) How much he was taking or losing with anyone else was not my concern.
I know sometimes I would sit there, not involved in a hand, watch the maniac push and then catch with what could only be described as a `debatable` starting hand. It would almost put me on tilt even if I had not lost to him !!!
The good thing here is that even if u r sitting with a monster, u don`t need to limp cause he will raise for u. U call and get away cheap if u miss (lose small pots) or slow play him if u catch a monster, knowing he will probably raise. (Win big pots)
This way of playing could be described as passive - I should have said I am playing a lot of PL Omaha hi lo, so possible holdem players think different?
Anyway, I`m just shooting the breeze, but have you guys any sentance that you think sums up poker???
