Of course, by default chess is always "heads up". Pattern recognition and memory of common 'openings' plays an important role in chess. Although it is perhaps possible to draw an analogy with preflop play, if you don't know your chess opening well you WILL lose badly against any competent player.

Hi i play chess since I was a kid, play often at chess.com my rating has reached 1670 which is above average. I jave been playing poker for about 5 years now and I can see why good chess player would make good poker players. Both games are similar in the sence of complexity and strategy, however poker is more also involves the luck factor. To incomplete imformation. But to be honest depending how good u are at chess there will be incomplete information too. The so called invisible moves. The better u get at chess the more you start seing.
