well this really isent an unheard of idea but, before i tell the idea heres my backgroud, ive been playing cards since i was about 8-9 years old, i have been playing poker since i was 11 and i am now 16. For those of you who think thats really young i understand where you are comming from but i believe that i can master my skills and be in real good shape when i do become legal and reach the age of 21. I have made really good money playing poker already considering i cant go to a casino and play.
ENOUGH about me, my idea is to get a few guys/girls together and start playing with eachother. Learn and teach eachother and make a few friends. Even if you just pick up one little tip, its worth it cause it makes your game that much better. We can play against eachother on sites like pokerstars.com and fulltiltpoker.com for example. Does not matter how old you are and im thinking maybe playing together about 2-4 times a week give or take.
Talk on aim and really become the best poker players we can be at this time in are lifes. My parents who are pretty supportive are behind me on my goal to become a professional and i would love to learn and be taught by the thousands of amazing players out there. Thanks you very much for taking ur time to read this, Post in this thread or PM me if you are interested.

Thanks again, JoR

That's a great idea; many of the top online pros IM each other hand situations all the time and post in the forums. It's one of the best ways to improve your game and your analysis of situations.

16? How about going out and picking up on girls?(guys? JoR is fairly unisexual.) Or cars? Or how bout studying for school so you can be a professional in a field that you actually might make money in?

I'm all for playing poker... but c'mon... don't say your parents are supportive of you being a professional poker player at 16! At 16 you have no idea where your life will take you. I play alot of poker now because my days of going out all night raising hell are over. I think most of us have settled down alittle and that's why we post here... unless you're Joosebuck.

I'm not trying to be a downer, but keep things in perspective. At your age everything is open, don't pigeon hole yourself - get out there and be a teenager. I wouldn't worry about poker until I exhausted all other party options. And when you do, we'll be here to answer your poker related questions. And me and Vanquish (and Joosebuck) will answer your party/stripper/all-nighter questions.:D

I totally agree with Rob. Well, except for the party/stripper/all-nighter stuff--he should wait until he is of a legal age to do so, like you guys all did...;) Actually, it's not really about agreeing with him, he's 100% right. Do mom and dad not know that it is completely illegal for you to be even be playing on these sites? Come on. You need to get your butt in school and look after your studies...as much of a drag as that can be sometimes, that needs to be your "job".

Now, having said that, IF you were of legal age to play, I'd tell you that what you describe is exactly what Cardschat is all about.

Well, since you don't become addicted to poker, I don't see anything wrong about playing only because you're 16, of course you have to study and do your stuff, and it's very good for you have a lot of friends and go to parties, but If you're sitting home bored and you don't have any other option, poker could be a fun way to spend some time
=)
