Cash is a much harder game to profit in I never seem to turn my MTT winnings into anything playing cash games and have constantly lost overall in this format of the game. I regularly run deep in tournements and have about a dozen FTs in the last 3 weeks. I then usually proceed to lose a portion of my winnings playing cash games this cycle has been going on for the last 2-3 years where I'm probably close to break even if I stuck to tourneys. bankroll management is a huge problem for me. Is it possible to ban yourself from cash games? Problem is I usually don't have time to play tourneys apart from my Wednesday and Sunday sessions should I stick to these days only

Seems to me that you are answering your own question and it just takes discipline not to play the cash tables.

Only discipline can help here, and of course bankroll management - nothing will work without it.

Hi.
I had a similar problem. Playing in tournaments, I always gradually increased my bankroll, but when I started playing cash games, I always lost. So over time, I realized this and stopped playing cash games. Now I only play in tournaments, which usually bring me profit.
Good luck.

I prefer MTT, I find it easier to play when you know you came in with a fixed amount of money.

mtts and cash games are completely different. you'll also find a lot more better and/or harder players in cash games than you do in mtts. bad brm is also a factor.

you have to learn to manage your banking, nothing is going to help you better than that

If you play on poker stars you can exclude yourself only from cash games, just select this option on your tools section. On the other rooms I don’t think you have this option to exclude yourself only from cash games.

If you find you don't have the time to play a large field MTT, I would suggest playing a single table Sit n Go. These typically last about 60 minutes depending on the structure.

Check them out and stay away from cash games as I do!!!!!!

MTT for a long time, sometimes when I play cash the opponents win with bad hands and that creates doubts.

Cash games, especially at lower stakes require a lot of discipline because rake is pretty big. Every pot you are involved in is raked. Therefore you have to win most pots you decide to play. The answer is simple - play only premium hands...

You must understand that poker is a permanent and long-term grind. As a pro, you will have to play a huge number of hands and hours, encountering many upstreaks and downstreams along the way. Therefore, if you want to really succeed in this game, you must play the format that will bring you more pleasure, in order to smooth out the negative emotions as much as possible, without which poker is simply impossible.
You need to understand that it is not the format of the game that determines your success in poker, but your desire to work, learn and improve your game both at and outside the tables.

This day in age its all about MTT, Sit N Gos and bounty tournaments. I also agree cash is just a losing game you can achieve a %40 ROI in tournaments.

I think that cash and MTT are two big differents modes games. There are big differences in this two games. I think that in cash games the variance is less than MTT. In MTT the blinds increase and in cash games it not increase. In other aspect I think that the players must change your strategy in MTT. It´s depend of the stage of tournament, the stack and the blinds. In cash games you can develop your strategy and you can recharge your money in the table. :)

Sorry for my english :D

I prefer MTT tournaments. Cash games are still too complicated for me.

On pokerstars it IS possible to restrict yourself from cash games - their software is THAT good. If you play other pokersites you will have to try your own discipline.

mmt is my favorite game, I consider that the cash depends a lot on your bank, instead 1 tournament you know that if you lose you leave:)
