Is the cash in WSOP real or just prop money?

I really would prefer bank wire or a check rather than trying to get that to the bank without being robbed lol. :D

Lmao, it's real I think, that's what the guards are for. I don't think they give it to you in a bag to take home though. Imagine turning up at a cashiers desk with that lot :)

I think they give you the option for a check. You still get taxed and all that. That would be sick taking all of that home with you.

You can be paid out in cash if you want but I would think most take a check home.

I'd have to take at least one or two bundles in cash just to go and party. I'd have a BIG bar tab that night!

I think I once read somewhere that the bills on the front and back are real, and the stuff in-between is blank. Remember, the final table was already paid $9M per person before they played it down.

WTH ppl were paid $9m per person + ur final table winnings? Is this correct??

I'd take a check to be safe, turn up to the bank n go "yep, thats $8m, i want it in my bank by 2moro so i can go blow it on drugs and hookers" :D

Correction - slipped a zero - make that over $900,000 per person. Here's the actual payouts.

I remember seeing a thread that showed what they paid in taxes on the winnings. Was brutal. 27m in prizes, like 8m in taxes.

IIRC they were all supposed to be paid the equivalent of 9th place money as soon as the final table was set in July - 8th and up were paid the difference after they busted from the final table.

And I've read some casinos / tournaments have used bundles where there's a $100 note on the outside and the rest is filled with $1 bills. Whether the wsop does this or not I don't know.
