Been playing poker bout 5 months now and was seeing some profit and then took a big down swing about $700 and now the last couple weeks I've won about 1k and I'm even again if not a little profit. Is this good or bad?

In poker, that's how it works, you're making a lot and then you lose a lot.

Definitely good to win $1,000 and be back to even! It takes a lot to win in some of the games being offered now so you are on the right path.

Some advice I wish I had when I was starting out: bankroll management is more important with a bigger bankroll - protect yourself from short-term fluctuations by moving down in stakes when you no longer have the number buy-ins necessary for your current level.

You will regain confidence and re-build your bankroll at the lower stakes.

Good luck to you! :D

For a beginner this is a very good start. You are well done. Few players have such success.

EDIT: I lost $700 online due to poor bankroll management. I didn't lose it all at once but in $50 deposits playing out of my bankroll. Ended up winning some big sessions live playing 1/2.

Sorry no proof just know what I've deposited and lost. I don't use trackers or software

Another thing to keep in mind - online games are tougher than playing live.

It all depends on your distance from a casino of course but me personally when I play online I play small stakes to try and implement new things into my game since you can find stakes way smaller than live.

I guess you could say I take playing live more seriously (more money, worse players). It's just hard to play for pennies when you play for a lot more live. Just my opinion of course!

I advise you to play 10% of your bankroll, and not to rush
