Making money for poker depends on your playing capability as both strategies are equally good. It really comes to your personal preference. Some people prefer the challenge of playing cash games, and others prefer the buzz of playing in poker tournaments. Each format has it’s own unique strategies and gain.

Here are few main highlights which can help you to select the one that best suits you.

In cash games players exchange money for chips, and there is usually a minimum and maximum buy-in amount, depending on the stakes. In tournaments, players buy-in for the same amount and are all usually given the same amount of tournament chips.

A player has the option to quit a cash game at anytime, and can then exchange any chips for cold, hard, cash. Tournaments end when there is one winner who has all the chips. Players are paid based on where they finished in the tournament.

If you lose your chips/money in a cash game then you may buy-in again and continue playing. If you lose all your chips in a tournament, you’re done and are out of the game.

Now choice is yours!!

Alex.

Tournaments are much higher variance and it can be very frustrating especially when you invest hours of time only to be eliminated just short of the money lines.

Cash games, on the other hand, I find more strategically exciting because they are more tangible and therefore analytically more interesting for me.

Tournaments of course. In cashgames you have a much higher competition.

play what you are more interested in depending on your preferences and bankroll, the main thing is not to fall into gambling addiction and work on the game

you can earn money in poker in almost any discipline - the main thing is a competent approach and the effort expended

Everything is quite relative, if you earn poker, then of course cash games are better, if you just want to tickle your nerves and try to hit a good jackpot, then it's definitely better to play tournaments

tournaments are better for me because the cash game is more gambling and risky, you can lose everything at once and tournaments can be returned easier and win big money, I prefer tournaments

Cash is better because less players, more potential muney.
But also the level of players tebd to be higher, so might be harder to win
Tournaments might seem easier but because of the big number of participants, you usually get knocked out randomly even with best hands

100% tournaments are better. Because, you are losing only buyin money , if you are getting kicked out with AA. But if you play cash tables, than all your stack , just disappear.

It’s crazy how often people throw away a stack in micro/small stakes tournament. I find at the same stakes they fight a lot harder and make way less mistakes in cash games. I have never lost 40+ buy ins playing mtts in a day, but have done so in cash games. I find you can coast through some mtts but you are never able to do that in cash games.

Mtts are much better for my mental health. I accept the fact that I am going to lose the buy in before I play. In cash games I have a tendency to chase small losing sessions with bigger losing sessions.

Depending on preferences, someone likes to play tournaments more, there is more action, cash game is more relaxed

plus, playing in a tournament is to a large extent a strategy and some kind of plot, while cash is a grind in its purest form

I prefer tournaments. You win less but you can lose small money to. And you can play tournament for couple hours for small buy in.

Tournament poker! I like it because I'm able to win. And the cash game I'm only losing

I prefer to play tournaments, but everyone has to play where they feel best and where they have the best results.

for you that it is better to play cash tables or tournaments, I speak in terms of which modality has more profitability
I think it depends on what you're looking for in poker.
I believe that if it is fast money the cash game is the most suitable.
Now if you want adrenaline, excitement, fun and still win good money, the tournaments are the best.
My preference is tournaments, I've played a little cash game and found it very boring, but it's all a matter of taste, everyone has their own.;)(y)

In order to make it more fun to play cash, quick game options have been invented. For example, ZOOM at PokerStars. Therefore, I do not agree that it is boring to play cash games.

For me tournaments, we all start from the same condition, with the same amount of chips.
