Hi.
A year ago, I watched the movie "Molly's Game". Quite an interesting movie to watch.

With you all the way on this. I did not expect to like Molly's Game as I knew the director Aaron Sorkin was disinterested in poker - he wanted to tell the story, not focus on play itself. But I was totally taken with the movie and would recommend it on its merits (which would be a movie about private games rather than the technical side of play).

Sorry to say I find most poker movies (and poker scenes in general) far fetched or ludicrous to say the least.

I also watched this movie and I liked it. I think he deserves your attention. :)

Rounders is my favorite poker movie.

Casino Royale is a great movie, but in terms of being a poker movie, it's terrible, as there's no strategy in the plays made; it's nearly 100% luck (set of Aces vs a set of Kings; quad Jacks vs. Aces over Kings, straight flush vs a Full House).

Personally, I enjoy watching live poker tournaments more than poker movies.

The Sting

A lot of my poker style is based on the concept of the “Big Con” which refers to the style of deception required to win big.

There was only one poker scene in the movie but it was brilliant.

“You owe me 10 Gran pal!”

Yup, another post that I agree with. I have Rounders and Molly's Game on file...but I literally have tens of hours of tourney play also stored. You can watch poker in different modes - sometimes I watch for the sheer entertainment and give little deep thought to anything.Other times something will spark interest and I'll watch a run of hands and breakdown the entire tables play as a learning tool.

Just as follow up, I recently re-watched the poker documentary "Bet Raise or Fold". It is excellent.

It is the story of the growth of on-line poker and features both famous players and the background to poker stars, Full Tilt and party poker's explosion. It also explains the political shenanigans which led in an underhanded manner to the first law being passed to restrict on-line poker.

It then details the obscene scam that full tilt poker was - the owners/partners (such as Lederer and Ferguson) were paying themselves 10 million dollars a month- in 4 years they 'extracted' 443.8 million dollars out of the company. When all was said and done only one individual I believe, CEO Bitar, ever faced charges.

It is absorbing and the full movie is available on You Tube.
