Change in my April Goal.

My only goal is to win an MTT....just one.
So, Im going to playing in a lot of FRs on full tilt poker and Stars, as well as a lot of CC FR events. Also, a lot of of the stars .10 MTTs.

A lot of opportunities for me. Im just hoping I can finally snag a win.

I'm only setting one goal for myself, and that is to kick the crap out of 25NL. I'm not setting a goal of how much money I want to make, just that I want to be able to beat it. 10NL is easy and pretty boring and I know I can beat 25NL I just keep doing stupid things.

I am never setting hand requirement goals or money won goals again.

Why?
Beacause they mean that you focus more on getting the hands in or trying to win too much too quickly and loose focus on playing +EV long term not short term. Well thats my opinion/expierence.

I agree with the money comment but I think setting hand goals is fine assuming you can play that many without tilting/burning out. Obviously you'll have bad months and good months and a certain amount of money doesn't necessarily mean you're playing good or bad, but what you can control is how many hands you play, and if you think you can play a certain amount of hands well, I see no problem with a hand goal. But I do agree with you to an extent. You shouldn't be striving for that goal while ignoring winning poker. If you're tilting and just playing to meet the hand goal it's not going to go too well.

Ahhh, the good ole poker goals thread. Well here goes (I may as well press the doomswitch myself, as everytime i set goals it goes tits up :D).

1 - Play 50k hands ( probably all 50nl 6max assuming I achieve goal 3)

2 - Maintain Platinum status - follows on from goal 1 as I need 45k hands to achieve Platinum.

3 - For the love of god please run goot. I'm sick of running like s**t. The poker gods have an automatic doomswitch set on my account, coz everytime I get my balance up to $2100, I run like crap.

4 - Post more on CC.

5 - Study more and participate in sweat sessions with the study group guys.

I sort of agree with this. One of my goals is to play 15K hands of Omaha. That would be about 500 hands a day. Yesterday I played about 300 hands and was really tired, I wasn't focused and I just wasn't in the mood to play. But I still pushed myself to play another 200 hands, which was stupid.

I don't consider myself a particularly serious player even though I do play at least a little more days than not. So the goals I have are pretty basic:

1. Enjoy myself. This is definitely #1. As a recreational player, that's the main reason I play, so there'd be little point to playing otherwise. March was a HUGE success in this regard since I won my way into my first big live tournament, the $4.5 million Irish Open. Didn't come close to cashing, but just being able to play made the month a great one poker-wise.

2. Make some money. I don't win enough for the amount to matter much, but having gone over three years without a losing month, I'd certainly like to extend that streak.

Being fairly new at real $ NL, I'm going to try to set a couple of very realistic goals:

* Increase BR by 50%, from $400 to $600
* Win a <180-player MTT
* Final table a 180-player MTT

Ok, Here I Go. My MARCH results can be read in my blog, as well as my brand new "BAD BEAT OF THE MONTH!" video feature (yay!).

April Goals:

- Kick A$$ in Oklahoma at home games and at the casino cash game (1/2nl), which means come out ahead (Going out there for 5 days)

- 3,500 hands at $25nl

- At least a $50 profit at the end of the month from $25nl

- When I play ring games, always 4 table it

- Get one of my two heroes, either ChuckTs or Zachvac, to comment on a 45 minute 4-table $25nl video captured session

Play over 10 000 hands with profit at 100 NL 6 max and 9 max .

Have over 5BB/100 hand when the month is over at 100NL. ( now I have only 3,5 . who I think is because I lost 300 dollar in the learning fase who lasted 3 hours.)

Reach platinum star ( now I am only goldstar)

I don't know why we stopped doing these, so I'll restart:
  • $5k month
  • 25k hands
  • final table something with > 500 players
  • dodge bullets
i'll come up with more i suppose, but that's it for now

Nice goal...WHich stake are you playing?
