I was reading a CardsChat article about thoughts that can sabotage your game:

5 Stack Crippling Thoughts In Online Poker

Even though we know controlling our thought processes can help improve our playing, it's very easy to believe these thoughts.

For me, it's a combination of calling to see what someone has ("they must be bluffing") and not having a stop-loss so I chase my losses ("keep playing until I'm even). Which are you most crippled by?
  1. They are probably bluffing
  2. I can't fold now
  3. I must bet
  4. What's another few bucks--I'm already stuck a lot
  5. I'll just keep playing until I'm back to even

It's definitely the last one for me and the #1 reason why I spend very little time playing cash games.

I lost the urge to bluff-catch a long time ago. At the limits I play those bigger bets (especially at the end) almost always mean my opponent has the goods. I've proven this theory with literally millions of hands. It's about as ironclad as it gets.

Hey nabmom,
This is one of the best threads ever. In fact, thoughts are very powerful. They actually orchestrate our lives and if not controlled, they could be very hurtful.
#1 and #4 are my weakness but I've been working on it and I'm doing better lately.

For me is the number 5 - I'll just keep playing until I'm back to even, maybe mixed with the number 2 - I can't fold now.
