Thanks for your inspiring story. I have always believed it's my fault if I can't move up. Simply when I'm good enough I will be able to be successful. Not a day before....
I guess I've really never improved ;>( Time for learning instead of struggling.

Please share with us a couple important tips w/ examples. Thank you.

Do you think your success is due more to creativity or consistency?

Both are very important

How long do you spend playing vs studying?

I would look over my notes for 15-20 mins before each session played. I would also take a few hours a week to look though HEM for general analysis...how I was losing money in certain spots w certain hands.

In your mind, is what you do difficult? This comes back to creativity vs consistency. Do you think that you do a bunch of relatively simple stuff but do it really well or do you think you do some quite complex stuff with maybe a limited degree of success?

Some of it comes easy to me, but there are always challenging spots. that's why poker is so great. Even the best players in the world can stand to get better.

Looking back, with all you know now, how tough was 1/2?

1/2 in 2007 was a sick joke of free money. I made 86 cents per hand over a summer at 1/2 and I wasn't even that good. Today 1/2 is 20 times tougher.

Whats your biggest tip in general?

How important do you rate maths vs feel?

Both are v important to win at a very high level.

Many thanks

No prob :)

The lesser important question:
What skills obtained in poker help you the most away from the tables and how?

The more important question:
Would you rather coach a hot girl that has no potential to improve in poker or a not so hot girl that has a lot of potential to improve in poker?

Haha. I've coached 67 students. Guess how many of them were girls...

I havent had a chance yet to listen - watch - the interview, but have this thread subscribed and will have some time next week when I get back to watch it.

But, bad news.... Being a music producer and also often my own engineer, I have done thousands of hours of recording over the last 30 years. And, unless you spoke different then you normally do, you sound on tape the way you sound in life...... (But everyone thinks their own voice sounds dorky if they are not use to hearing it, for the rest of us its just your voice...lol) Skype does sometimes have an influence, but it pretty much how you sound.

/derail
I have some interesting stories of people who complained that I used "weird" effect on their voice, when they just had never heard their voice on tape....
/end derail

In retrospect, I think my voice actually sounds fine. Maybe I was just a little nervous at the beginning.

Sorry for all my recent downtime. I've been swamped working on my newest video series...which is finally finished...

I'll do my best to browse around a bit and to add some input...

Happy holidays!

Something doesn't feel right with this thread. Not sure what it is.

Can you post some stats from 10/20nl?
How many hands at 10/20 is win rate based on?
How have you made money since BF?

Hey white_lytning,

All of my updated post-BF stats are posted on my website broken down my stakes and stack size.

I've been running pretty sick. I really don't think 51.09bb/100 is sustainable at NL3k though

Can you provide a link.

All google search is showing is a site that looks like an advertisement for poker coaching. Can't find any of your stats on that site.

It's how it is..yourdoompoker on google reveals the top one as his site.

Yes, of course it's an advertisement for coaching, that's what his site is all about..

You can see his stats on his site if you browse through it and it's in one of the tabs.

Since I sell instructional videos on my website, posting a direct link is against forum rules and I do not wish to break any forum rules.

But if you're already on the site, if you click the Coaching button at the top, you will find all of the stats that I mentioned.

During this stretch, I occasionally played $5/$10 NL, but could not beat the level as I just ran terrible all the time. (I can tell you the real reasons you "run terrible all the time" at one level higher than your main game.) Anyways, it was pretty clear to me...$3/$6 NL was the most profitable level to play. Anyone playing $5/$10 NL was an idiot. There was no value there.

So the point of my story?...Every level is beatable. It's all relative to your talent level. Never listen to the masses about what "can't" be done. If you can't beat a particular level, it's not because "you run bad at that level" or "there are too many sharks" there...you're just not good enough...yet. Also, in the long term, there is no such thing as "luck." Everyone's winrate over 4 years and one million hands is... well... your true winrate.

Is EVERY level beatable?

What about the $5/$10? :D

Have you been back to try it again?

btw If you don't 3bet your small pairs and just call, how do you generally continue after missing the set on the flop?
