So a hand from .50/1$ Nl Holdem!
We are 9 handed,
Generally all players on table are noobs.
So Utg i have 85BB stack,
I pick up AA,
I play very aggresive with thoose loose passive players.
So i raise 8$.
Villian from cuttoff calls(120BB).
Another player from BB calls.
So 3 handed to the flop.
Flop comes 789 rainbow.
BB checks,
I decided to bet 14$ into the pot of something 25$.
Villian raises all in for his 110BB.
Blind folds so actions back on me.
So i have a read on villian.
He is very fishy noob loosy player.
Whenever he has a good made hand like say if he has 10J here or 56 here which would have given him/her the straight he would have just called.
Because he is a kind of player which never raises just calls and floats even if he has the nuts(except the river where he wants full value).
If he had two pair he would or top pair he would have just floated.
So this big jam indicated me that he had gutshot straight draw or open ender.
Which i had atleast 65% equity with!
So i called and he indeed had 6j off(yuck)
Open ender.
Turn is 3 and river is 10 completing his draw.
Bad beat or badly played?
Anything woukd be helpfull!

I agree with elflake.

My only other thought is: If you were confident of your read on Villain, had you already decided to go AI if he shoved it (like he did on the flop)? If so, it might have worked out better if you preempted his maniac play and shoved AI on the flop. But I defer to your read of the table at the time - I wasn't there!

Over the long run your bankroll will improve but his will disappear.

Stay groovy

You should congratulate yourself for a perfect read. You absolutely made the right choice there. That loss was just bad luck but in the long run you take those pots home.

agreed with all

If playing a tournament, that guy is out in first three rounds, you are at the final table! Still pisses you off when it happens though...

A: Why are you playing an 85BB stack? This is a no. Always top off/ buy in for the max to ensure the most value from big hands.

B: Post this in hand analysis.

Getting it in good against their range is all we can do.

The way to discuss the hand shows many leaks in your game though, as does posting a beat as a question.

How would you have discussed the hand?

The fact you had your opponent so pegged to a specific range is good - the fact tbat you were right is even better. Getting your money in good is the goal, he just got lucky and hit his straight. the real question is, in the same exact spot, would you call him again?

Remember the final result of a hand doesnt indicate the level of play.
You played this fine.
SOme times I ask myself if I had known exactly what he had would I have played it the same way. If the answer is yes, then I played it right.

You did fine, played for equity and it’s awesome how you gained such precise ranges on players, keep it up and you will be ahead in the long run :)

Since there are so many straight combos and 2 pairs/sets I would fold. Even if you are good he would still have a decent equity.

this is a hand that there is just nothing you can do ,the cards just fall just keep your head up and realize you got it in good and he did not the moron should not have even called pre flop with that junk but it is what it is and in the long run he will lose and you will not .
