hi,

i was wondering : when do guys stop playing a cash game ?

do you stop when you feel too tired ? said differently : do you keep playing as long as you don't feel too tired to ?
do you set a $ target before playing and close the table when you reached that target ?
do you tell yourself : "ok, i play 2h then i close everything"
do you stop when you think you have lost too much ?
can you stop when you are on a winning session ?

Usually a combo of if I'm still thinking really well or starting to go on autopilot and then looking around at my tables.

I want to be able to point at particular people at my table and say for example, "I'm sitting here because there's this LP guy on my right with 2BI's and he's willing to stack off any 2-pair holdings and TP if I'm aggro on a draw heavy board"

If I'm looking around going, well.....it's a pile of 21/18 dudes and an 11/7 nit then there's probably not a ton of EV there.

If I'm running bad, I'll stop after 2 bi while 2 tabling. If I find myself getting lost in the hand or can't keep up with 2 tabling I'll stop. If the table isn't the softest and I've doubled I might leave.

I usually dedicate 1-2 hours at the most once I find good tables. And I'll review the toughest spots I got into and hands I stacked off with. I'll review for 15-30 minutes and call it a day.

If im at a soft table i will continue for as long as i can without making mistakes, once i start making mistakes ill leave.

If i lose a 2-3BI's ill leave the table, depends on the table though... If i keep getting stacked by donks getting lucky, i might spend more and stay on the table, because i know that money is coming back to me easy.

If im sat at a table with 5BI's because im crushing it, some people might say to leave for BCR reasons, but if there is still value on the table, ill stay and take a little more... Chances are though, if youve taken 5BI's, the value players are gonna leave and new players will come in.

If youre not too confident playing deep, then maybe leave the table if you double up and start again at another table...

It's all about table dynamics for me.

Mind you, I now play almost exclusively live, but even when I played online, it was always about the table dynamics, barring of course irl obligations where I had to leave because I had to go do something.

I think it's a BIG mistake and a common one players make to leave based on money won/lost. I think in general, it's perfectly OK to set a time limit - say you are going to play X number of hours and then quit no matter what, and to some degree, I do that live. I go to a casino, plan on playing 7-8 hours, and then go home, whether I'm up or down. What this does is teaches me discipline, and stops me from either chasing losses or another mistake a lot of players make, leaving when they are up a certain amount of money when the table dictates that you could make so much more.

But even after my 7-8 hour sessions, if the table is just too juicy for me to pass up, and I of course don't have any forthcoming obligations in life, I'll of course stay on more hours if I think I can be profitable doing so.

I leave a table when I think I am at the top of the money i can get, or got like double or tripple my of my buy-in /starting cash/. It`s usually min buy-in or something like that. As example the min buy-in for .01/.02 nlhe is $0.80. I get in with $1. And 3-4 $ is my top where I think about leaving the table. Of coure if the table is good to keep playing there I just keep playing on it.
If I'm in a losing streak I try to leave a table before I lose my buy-in. As I am poor guy :D I cant afford going too low and playing like all-in or fold. It`s well known by players in .01/.02... I guess.(Some people play until they get everything back or lose it all, or just make auto max buy-in).

First playing 2NL is sucky for rake reasons...

Second, it depends how serious you are as a player, if youre just recreational then cool, play till whenever you want. If youre more concerned with correct bankroll management there are certain times you should leave (i.e say you have 40$ and buy into a table for 2$, you work it up to 6$ or so, and you now have around 15% of your BR at the table).

Third, looking at the amount you buy in with might help you, its not generally ideal to be sat down with 40BB, unless thats all you can manage :)

I leave when there are 3-4 players better than me at a Full Ring table or when I am tired and losing focus and making poor decisions.

Usually when I at least double up my buy in I leave the table. However if I double up and I notice I'm playing with a couple bad players that call every hand, shark mode is activated. I'll stick around until I get surrounded by tight passive players and cash out my double buy in.
---
On the reverse end. If I'm at 50% my buy-in and if I'm just getting ran over at the table I usually try and stay emotion-free and at least break even before leaving the table. Once I break even I usually leave the table and take a break to calm my nerves. It all depends on the table dynamics, getting good EV+ etc.

If i win i stay no matter what, but once you start to loose a chunk of it back, i leave and if i really want to keep playing go to another table, but sometimes you come across a table where it seems like someone there is either drunk, or just really really bad at poker and in that case you have to stay a little longer

I want to win at one time, if once I win the cash game. I stop playing the cash game when I get bored from this game.

I have a number of exit strategies that I use. The main one is if I decide to play for a set amount of time. I use a desktop alarm that I set twice. One setting is for 10 mins before I want to leave so I can activate the sit out of next blind button and the other is the actual leaving time. Another exit strategy is if I'm playing a tourney or Sng at the same time. I usually go into sit out of next blind mode when I'm itm in a sng or final table on a tourney. Of course, there are other things I do. For example... If I'm being properly beaten up at a table I leave and find an easier one. At the moment I'm mainly playing for pokerstars Points so I'm multitabling as much as I can and exit strategies only really come into it when I'm at a tough table that I can't spend too much time analysing the game flow.

Everyone has their strategies of playing, and should stick to it, I also have a strategy but just before the start of play, after some time playing the entire strategy is useless. This is probably my biggest mistake.

I usually stop playing Cash Games after I reached a $ target or when I feel bored and I lose my patience. I don't know what happened with me last week because I was unable to stop playing... I played on Suited Ace, it is a little site, and the are some tourneys where you win about 3$ if you finished first. I won 2 tourneys having about 6$, then I went to Cash Games, in 2-3 hours I won about 200$. Unfortunately I lost them going all-in with 44 against AK pre-flop TWO TIMES IN A ROW... I felt like an idiot, I don't know what was in my mind...

I stop when i realize i'm tilted or when I'm scared of losing the profit of the session , and also when the table is not good for the game.

On the rare times I play cash I go by the table dynamics if I am easily winning due to the opponents bad play I will stay as long as I am still winning, If I was just barely winning or won a couple of big pots by luck I will run after winning 3 buy ins.

If I'm losing around 2 buy ins I'm outta there.
