Alright heres the deal. Iam still laid off and looking for work. Unfortunately theres not much in the areas that I'am capable in. I'am a up and down poker player who likes to gamble way to much. You guys have known me long enough to see my progress through many Cardschat tourneys. Not to sure of my stats but Iam sure for CC games there not the worst. Had my share of firsts.

While I'am looking for work I really need to start taking advantage of the access to all the money on the net. I feel that if I'am diligent and stick to a strict STRICT schedule of playing and dont go beyond my means I can start to average some kind of steady income from the game of poker.

I'am not looking for replies from new members with one liners because its just spam. I'am looking to hear from the ppl who have helped me improve my game all this time.

How do i turn this small BR into at least a couple hundred a week in income. Is it possible? This is probably my first real post about setting a goal in this forum and would appreciate only serious responses.

New baby coming in July and if I dont start making some money...(not necessarily from poker) I' am gonna start having to tap into funds that shouldnt be tapped into(trust fund from my pepere)

Gimme a strict plan idea on what i can do with this crappy bankroll

Edit: Screenshot didnt load of Cashier at Pstars.

Current BankRoll: $190.08

I'm not here to belittle you in any way or whatever - you sound like you're really enthusiastic about this - but you simply will not make a living with that bankroll.

Even if you did have the bankroll (6 months living expenses at LEAST), unless you've played literally hundreds of thousands of ring hands (or tens of thousands of tourneys) to suggest you can make at least a normal job's wages, you almost certainly wouldn't.

This is coming from a 22 year old who's been playing for like 4 years making awesome money, but it's STILL not enough to live in even a decent apartment, nevermind enough to take care of a family. It's an extremely swingy game even for the best of players, and with a $200 bankroll it's just not going to happen for you.

My suggestion is to get a consistent job that pays well, and once you've stabilized your life in that respect you can start to look at building a bankroll and taking a look at getting somewhere with poker. If you don't have much education or experience to get you a new job you could always go into trades or construction which always pays well.

Thanks Chuck for the response. Maybe I didnt express myself correctly. What iam looking to do is obv make money. Iam a roofer still laid off. I was making 47.50 an hour so have had money in the bank for a while. When i say if i dont start making money i mean i got about 10k in the bank and still collecting unemployment. I support my family just fine. No problems with that. But the bank always and you all know what i mean ALWAYS empties quicker than it fills up.. And maybe Iam wrong to think i cant make consistent money... But will smile if I do lol:D

Well, i can give you advice about building a BR from $200 but not about playing for a living. What i would suggest to you is to play some $6 turbos (4-6, or more at a time). I would then after getting around 400-500 move up to the 10s and once you get like 750-800 i go up to the $22s and you can make some really good money there.

At the $22s i would stay there and just build up the tables you play and once you get around $2000 you can start cashing out or if you want move up in limits.

I wish you the best of luck. It will be supper hard but its not imposible.

Time to make a living with poker

Pretty sure you expressed yourself fine...

All I'm saying is that $200 is just the beginning. In order to 'make a living with poker', you need tens of thousands in your bankroll, and need to win enough to keep those funds at least even, or even to make them grow.

Until that point comes, the best way to test yourself to see if you can sustain a roll that big is to build it up to that point. There's plenty of money to be made in poker, but it takes time and LOTS of effort.

Posting and discussing more, getting a subscription to a coaching site like deucescracked or stoxpoker, playing tens of thousands of hands monthly, reading books, etc etc are all essential to growing as a player. You can start by playing as much as possible and seeing what you need to work on.

Its simple to make money on the net, whats even simpler though is to loose it all. If you play a good game of poker, play premium hands and slowly pill up you will eventually get the expirience you need to play good poker, but the one thing that can stab you in the back is to go on tilt. Every serious poker player has expirienced it, and it is definitly something you should predict in your poker games. Durring your lifetime, if you continue playing poker you will eventually lose a big hand cause someone caught a hand... got really lucky. Its what you do after this point that makes you a money maker or a looser. Work your way up with your 200 dollars, play tables that have a buying about 1/20 of your bankroll. Do this and play a good game, dont give your money away by looking for inside straights, just play it well and look to beat the bad players, not to try and beat the players that have beaten you.

Do you live close to a casino?
If you have money in the bank and want to pursue poker as a source of income, have you tried taking 1k or so to a casino and play poker?
I mean, at least this way there's no hassle cashing out i.e you don't have to wait 4 weeks for a check to come in the mail.

^^^^ Please don't do that lol.

Follow Chuckt's advice. It is not time and you are a long way from being ready to make money as a living playing poker.

You will need every penny you have in the bank to continue to pay your bills and provide for your family. Don't take it out to gamble with.

Keep looking for a job.

Work on building your $200 online bankroll up - but what Chuckts says is so true. You need much, much more than that before you can even make enough to have a small part-time income from it.

play every single cc game , they all have good money added and it can be a good source of income , of course you'll have to play others too but worth the time invested . good luck in whatever you try .

also you can still make money roofing , use your brain now instead of your knees :) get your boss to give you your own house and then put your own crew to work on it , or get your own houses from any contractor and do the same . ( not familiar with the laws there , JMO :) )

I just wanted to put it out there that this thread really made me proud of being a member of CC. It's good to know that there's people here that are supportive not just of each other in poker goals, but in everything in life.

And TBH some of the most important advice I've seen on this forum hasn't had to do with poker at all. Best of luck pokerchild, in poker et al. =)

I don't know how many tables you play at once, but if you honestly never want to have to put more money online you should only be playing at a level where you have 100 buy-ins for that level. It also really depend on which game you're in, I mean if you play 9-10 mans than I'm sure 60-75 buy-ins will be plenty, but if you're playing big MTT's then 125-250 buy-ins wouldn't be a bad idea.

Also if you're going to really try to be a pro at it, I would recommend downloading a free trial version of pokertracker 3, sng wiz, and then also downloading pokerstove. And reading all the FAQ/forum info you can about all those products and take at least one full HH a day or a week that you review or have someone review for you.

With br @ 190.80 I would suggest grinding any games in the $1.75 range or maybe 2.20 turbo 180s if you're good at turbos.

The reason I suggest so many buy-ins is because swings can be brutal I've had 30 game non-cash streaks followed by sick upswings but I had to survive the downswing. And I only play 4-6 tables at once, some ppl that play 12-20 tables can have 50 buy-in downswings

For what its worth pokerchild,I would suggest maybe taking some money and starting your own buisness.
I have been playing cards for a living for the last year or so,but without owning a few different buisnesses that I bought or partenered with from winnings then I would have had to find a 9 to 5.
It is a long and unconsistent road out there on the poker trail, and no matter how good you are everybody goes bust from time to time.
So you need a nest egg to fall back on when that happens.
