Is there a stop loss in the cash game? How to determine one? How to play for example 2 thousand hands and leave in prejudice not wanting to recover in the session? Is it easy to accept when you become a reg? What strategy do you use to end a session?

I dont have a predetermined stop loss, but if I am not enjoying to play because of losing, I will stop for the day. Typically that might happen, if I am down 3-5 buyins for the day.

3 buyin. The mood is spoiled and I better just close the tables and do other things.

During the game I try to analyze my actions if I play optimally in my opinion, I continue to play. If not, I analyze all the actions for which there are questions. Playing time depends on many factors - it is both mood and state of health.

I stop after a while, regardless of the stack. But if there were big wins, then soon there will be bad surprises. Therefore, it is always more pleasant to leave after victories.

Yes, I have limits for losses.
I set the limit according to the number of cash inflows, which I am willing to lose up to one day.
Also this restriction that I impose, is related to my level of play. That is, if for example after having lost 2 boxes in a row, I realize that my level of play decreases, I stop playing automatically, until I am again concentrated 100%
The factors that imply stop playing for me are:
1) When I feel tired.
2) When I'm angry.
3) When I am deconcentrated.
4) When I do not feel like playing.
5) When I feel like I'm playing badly.
Greetings.

Ask yourself 3 Questions
1) Is the game good?
2) Is my seat good?
3) Am I playing good?

If the answer to at least 2 of the 3 isn't yes, it's probably time to sit out.

Stop losses are generally to keep people from slipping into poor play, D-Game, because they are tilted, tired or chasing. It's a way to put a number on things like "everytime I lose x buyins I start to play really poorly"

But as you get more experienced, you can tune into when you're playing poorly before you hit your stop loss.

Regards to the whole thing about losing sessions, the key is to really look at every hand of cash game poker as one giant session. And your best results will come in the long run if you're playing when you're at your best.

It's not about having a winning session, or a winning day, a lot of that is just due to social pressures of people asking you 'how you are doing'. Because variance is such a major contributor to the outcome of your short term sessions it really shouldn't matter. How well you are playing, and how good the game is should be the primary determinants of when to quit or keep going. (And Quitting as Tommy Angelo said is one of the most important skills a poker player can have).

It doesn't become easier once you're a reg, it becomes easier as soon as you adopt the long run mindset, and all regs/pros have to adopt it or else they'd go insane :p

Here's a video on knowing when to quit that may help

And here is a video about the whole graph thing/peak stuck, which I've experienced tons over the years, and in this video I just kind of lay it all on the table :)

I have a target, to lose and win there is a limit.

If I win according to the target I will rest ... If I lose with the greatest value, I will stop ...

And when I feel bored, I will rest ... :D

Having a stop loss and sticking to it are two different things.

No it's pointless

In no limit a loss of one stack and a rebuy means a break even scenario,if you chose to play on because your wired and healthy then maybe you will run hot to a marginal win. Truth is the casino never stops all days are generally the same you just play on to a win rate which can only occur at the right limit to beat the rake and pay for expenses. 1/3 no limit game means lose 300-buy in another see what happens. If you feel fine and have a stop loss the the story just continues days or weeks later hopefully breaking even from that -300 then moving on to a profit. For me I play 3/6 Limit a lot I know -60 is the downswing be patient I break even then -60 happens again. I play for fun, points 4k hd tv's and sports. Occasionally I'm a big winner at +220. I can see the same for NL from 1/2 to 2-5 generally you lose break even then have a marginal win rate. Play 2-5 and you may eventually reap 500+ profit depends on how much you play could be at the end of the day, month or week. It's all gambling I play 25 cent video poker and have to accept in general +50 is about it a standard profit from my skill which I dump back the same day. No matter though because if I took that 3x in a row and spent it on gas or whatever probabilities would dictate id lose 100 then 50 again weeks or even years later. It's an unbeatable endeavor this is why poker pro's play big tournaments because when luck and numbers flow their way they get paid 5000x not just a little.

I do not play cash games, only in tournaments. And I have a common rule for all occasions, I never spend more than I can afford to spend.

Mine is 3 buy ins (100bb). It really depends upon the mentality of each individual. If you know you're not bringing your A game time to rack up and go home.

as soon as I can not play my A game and suffer too much loss. I stop and I close while waiting to recover my spirits. It may take some hours or days before I retry my lucky.

If I stack off vs same opponent two buy-ins. I pause for an hour.

I practice to stop when I win. To stop losses is too difficult.

I do not have a stop loss. I try to set a specific period of time that I want to play and then assess where I am at that point. I will leave a table early if I am outmatched or I know I am not playing my best game. Otherwise I stay until my planned session has ended and the evaluate if I feel I can continue to play good poker past that point.

I make it a rule not to stay to chase losses and also will not stay if I feel I am protecting a winning session instead of making the best play for the situation.
