I know it's not a great hand and will never play it under the gun. Gotten into so many sticky spots and lost a good bit of coin lately with this hand. Any thoughts? Anyone stop playing this hand overall?

I would generally raise with it if no one has entered the pot. Get weak hands to fold and try and get up against one or 2 players. I wouldn't want to play a huge pot with it if I just hit top pair but if no A comes and a K or J comes you are probably in pretty good shape.

I agree. I'm wondering when what kind of game you are meaning? KJ could be pretty good early in a tournament.

Getting into sticky spots with KJ is like the recreational players at the local casino flatting with AK because of their previous experiences.

We all know AK is a hand you can really inflate pots with, and we know this because it is standard (generally speaking). Regarding KJ, it’s one of those hands where actions in front of you dictate how it would be played. (Like open raising from middle position or flatting KJ suited from the button when facing a 3x raise from the low jack)

Often times you may miss, make 2nd pair, or have a decent draw. Other times you will make too pair or find spots to bluff. How you play KJ post flop based on acquired info can influence your win rate as well (overall and with KJ).

KJ suited vs KJ off are very different hands. In EP I often fold KJo but open with KJs. In latter position I would usually open both and then if 3bet make a decision based on the villain. Generally I would probably fold or 4bet KJo and call with KJs.

No really stop playing such a hand is not worth it! There are situations in which this strong hand! Against each player you need to select a certain strategy of the game! If the opponent plays a very wide range of starting hands, then K J is an excellent card

Its one of the trouble hands. Definitely be on high alert when playing this hand. Stop playing it all together? No way!

Just don't play a big pot with just one pair.

Suited you can still make a royal flush! lol rare as it may be.

Hope this helps! Good luck out there!

it's weak. but at the beginning of the tournament and in the middle it can be cast about 3 BB and if suited you and 5 BB to call and see the flop after that you go out.these cards are not quite so hopeless there is much worse 7 2 )))

I totally agree with you. I too find KJ difficult sometimes, both suited and non-suited. It is a hand i play, but easily (perhaps to easily?) fold if there are stronger potensial hands on the flop and turn. Especially if there is an Ace running the bord.
So bottom line, i think its a hand one should absolutely play, but with caution.

I found this video,
which is a clear example of when you could potentially play KJ.

Enjoy!

I prefer not to play this hand. Only from the late positions I can raise with it. Or call someone's raise if only this hand is suitable. This hand is too weak for example for tournies. So your idea is good. Don't play this hand in any difficult situations.

I play this hand, but not always. It all depends on the position and stage of the tournament (I mainly play in MTT and SnG).

I like to play this hand, but I do this only in pots how that I don't have to put so many chips, and I prefer don't play against many players, but i like to do this if also are playing in check or i need to pay a little for this.

I prefer play KJs, depend of the villain I will play like when am holding aces, with some atention for they moves and th board, to don't get catch in a trap.

My most unloved hand, like AJo. I won 5% of the hands with them)) I learned to throw it out pre-flop, or just call. If I raise, I lose the hand))

The map is not bad at all. Just need to play with it carefully. I can call, even if it's not big. And if the flop comes with an ace, then you almost have to throw it when someone raises it.

I only play it in position, and depending on the players after me. The fact is that it's a hand that put you in difficult decisions almost all the time. If you are in the button and face a tribet from an agressive player who try do defend his blinds all the time, should you call? If there is an ace in the board, is it reasonable to call a raise? You kind of need a good flop to extract some value of this hand.

i totally agree, i do that as well, but i do fold it sometimes too if someone before me raises and has a huge chip stack

When I first get to a table it's common to fold this hand on only raise with it from the Hi/Jack to the BB if it's folded to me. Usually a 2.5bb raise its the route I chose. If reraised I more than likely fold or call depending on the stack sizing for myself and my opponent. Play flop according to villians ranges and his perceived image of you.

It's not a hand to push all in pre flop it's a walk softly hand. It's not a big stick. Player beware.
