Up to and including $2/$4 players, $100NL players, $33 S$G/MTT.

Follow on from this thread : https://www.cardschat.com/forum/cash-games-11/some-questions-micro-players-82155/ The micro limit players can post there.

Do you just play poker just for fun ?

Have you an adquete bankroll for the limits you play at? What would you call adquete ?

Did you bankroll yourself for these limits immediately, or did you grind your way up though the micros ?

If you done the grind, how long did it take you, and are there any important lessons or advise you could give to the micro players ?

Do you ever intend to move up in limits and how do you intend to do this ?

Do you find it easier to win money at these limits ?

Have you a solid plan of action to move you game to the next level ?

Do you find yourself tilting and calling against the odds too much ?

Do you re-deposit on a regular basis, and why do you think this is, are you constantly losing ?

Do you find yourself taking "shots" at a higher limit ?

Do you (or can you) identify leaks in your game, do you even bother to look ?

No need to reply if you dont want to, just some things to ponder :)

I guess I have to answer this time.

Up to and including $2/$4 players, $100NL players, $33 S$G/MTT.

Do you just play poker just for fun ? No - would like to win money as well.

Have you an adquete bankroll for the limits you play at? What would you call adquete ? Tough question but I suppose yes. It really depends on how you define bankroll. Is it all the money you have in all sites combined or at each individual site? I have never said to myself "you have x amount of dollars to spend on poker"

Did you bankroll yourself for these limits immediately, or did you grind your way up though the micros ? I bankrolled myself immediately. I would never have the patience to grind my way up at really low limits. I never play there unless playing with friends - so that bit is for fun only.

If you done the grind, how long did it take you, and are there any important lessons or advise you could give to the micro players ? n/a

Do you ever intend to move up in limits and how do you intend to do this ? I will only move up if I start winning more.

Do you find it easier to win money at these limits ? Not consistently.

Have you a solid plan of action to move you game to the next level ? No

Do you find yourself tilting and calling against the odds too much ? Who me? lol Rarely at cash games, if I tilt it will be in a sng or tournie.

Do you re-deposit on a regular basis, and why do you think this is, are you constantly losing ? I did until about 5 months ago since I joined CC. However now it is hard for me to keep up with where I stand cause I transfer so much around for people and also give some away. I have a feeling I am on a downswing though.

Do you find yourself taking "shots" at a higher limit ? Only when I play with you lol. I consider myself a $25NL player but play $50NL with you and others sometimes.

Do you (or can you) identify leaks in your game, do you even bother to look ? Fortunately you and others are sure to point them out to me lol.
(and I appreciate it)

Since nobody appreciated my very spartan answer to the first 'quiz'.....

Do you just play poker just for fun ? Mainly, being semi broke gives reason to play playmoney games, but with a freeroll BR, I have visions of greatness.

Have you an adquete bankroll for the limits you play at? What would you call adquete ? No. But what is an adequate BR for micro limit games. All you have is, well, all you have!

Did you bankroll yourself for these limits immediately, or did you grind your way up though the micros ? With a very slight caveat, I won my BR via freerolls. Been tempted several times though. The caveat was the min deposit, I had to augment those winnings a bit.

If you done the grind, how long did it take you, and are there any important lessons or advise you could give to the micro players ? Played freerolls and play money sng's/mtt for 12 months before converting winnings. Advice. slow down, this is a game for a lifetime. Learn it like you would learn the soft curves of your lovers body.
OK ADD THE WORD SEX TO THE THREAD NOW !!!!!

Do you ever intend to move up in limits and how do you intend to do this ? Yes, as my BR increases. Or lightning strikes.

Do you find it easier to win money at these limits ? Of late (last few days), it has been easy to get ITM. The 'of late' part of this I can say I owe to this site. Last few days, 7 sng's, 5 ITM. 3 wins, 2 3rds.

Have you a solid plan of action to move you game to the next level ? Still need a definition of solid here. Otherwise, as the BR grow's so it goes. Or are you looking for "On tuesday I will move up to $5 sng's, and win there, then wednesday $25 and win there, on thursday $250 sng's and win there and then I'm in the big time"?

Do you find yourself tilting and calling against the odds too much ? Haven't tilted in a long long time. I like to think I have evolved to a sportsmanlike view of the game. This does not mean I dont suffer emotional losses. BUt I have learned that after such a beat, I will need monsters to play the next hand. In this context, poker is akin to golf. A great move equates to a great shot, a donk move equates to a slice.

Do you re-deposit on a regular basis, and why do you think this is, are you constantly losing ? Only one deposit, which was a combination of various freeroll winnings into one spot, at FTP. This was during the post banishment in Oct 2006

Do you find yourself taking "shots" at a higher limit ? Not yet, BR still a wee bit too anemic

Do you (or can you) identify leaks in your game, do you even bother to look ? I look, but seldom find (not saying I have none), but when I do, they get proper attention. ChuckT got me thinking yesterday about my tendency to donk out. Have I been the donk all along?????

The defination of a "solid" plan is difficult and different for everyone.

For example ive just moved from $50NL to $100NL. My plan being, ignoring all S&G/MTT winnings, to win $1,000 from $50/$25 NL ring, to track this progress using PokerTracker, and not move up until I have $1K winnings, to then move to $100 NL moving down if my profit figure drops below $900. Not to move limits until I play the minium of 10,000 hands at any level, irregardless if im running hot.

NOT the defination of solid plan....... Ill move up when I feel im ready.

Heh, no interest from the low limit players, I thought at least Chris would have given this one a shot :p

Do you just play poker just for fun ?
- Primarily, the challenge of it all is also very important to me and the fact that with poker its very easy to have a way to measure your progress. The monies is also nice.

Have you an adquete bankroll for the limits you play at? What would you call adquete ?
-YES, I'm playing $100NL at the moment, and I have 20+ buy-ins for that level.

Did you bankroll yourself for these limits immediately, or did you grind your way up though the micros ?
-GRIND GRIND GRIND, from a $50 deposit on Stars, starting with the $1 sit and gos and $5NL.

If you done the grind, how long did it take you, and are there any important lessons or advise you could give to the micro players ?
- It took 18months before I moved to playing $25NL and another 6 to beat them 2 levels, so it took around 2 years to reach $100 NL. The only bit of advise I can give to the micro players, is to track your play, learn the game and dont get dis-heartened, I know i was many times. The micro's are easy to beat with good disipline.

Do you ever intend to move up in limits and how do you intend to do this ?
- YES. I intend to be at $200NL before the year is out, I intend to do this by adding some extra dimensions to my game, im not even anywhere good enough to play $200NL yet IMO. I do however intend to stop once I find my optimal level, im under no illusions that ill ever be playing high stakes with Doyle and co.

Do you find it easier to win money at these limits ?
-NO, the win rate is slower, there isnt as many donkeys and calling stations around, the tables tend to be more aggressive, and the players better. On $25 NL id be looking to stack at least 2 players a night, on $100 so far over 12 sessions ive managed to stack 1, and if im honest im happy with that.

Have you a solid plan of action to move you game to the next level ?
YES. Very solid, see above.

Do you find yourself tilting and calling against the odds too much ?
Occasionaly i still do this, and any player that says no is lying IMO. Rather than calling on draws Im starting to find myself raising looking for elusive free river cards, unfortunately i find myself also calling if i get re-raised. Its one of my biggest leaks.

Do you re-deposit on a regular basis, and why do you think this is, are you constantly losing ?
NO, I have 3x$50 deposits in my poker career, 1x$50 on stars which I lost in one day. I re-deposited and now have the majority of my BR from that, also deposited $50 on FT, and i also have a few thousand there.

Do you find yourself taking "shots" at a higher limit ?
Occasionaly, mainly just before I move up, and thats all part of the game, before i moved to $100 NL, I was playing 1 session in 5 there. Ive had shots at $200 NL, and won, and usually I end up taking unreal daft shots when im too drunk to remember it.

Do you (or can you) identify leaks in your game, do you even bother to look ?
YES- I use PT a lot, and spend a lot of time looking and thinking about my game, I still nowhere near as proficient at identifing leaks as id like to be however. Im still a student of the game, and to be honest if I could identify my leaks easily I'd be playing with Doyle in the Bellagio as we speak :)

Do you just play poker just for fun ?
I don't play poker much at all if the last few weeks are anything to go by! Anyway, obv I don't play purely for 'fun', as poker can really not be fun a lot of the time, and if I was looking for fun things to do I could think of several hundred better things to do that sit clicking a mouse on a screen full of pretty pictures.

I play because I find the game and all its nuances interesting, and if I can make a bit of money on the side, well, that's a bonus.
Have you an adquete bankroll for the limits you play at? What would you call adquete ?
Yes, if anything I'm over bankrolled but I'm a nit like that.
Did you bankroll yourself for these limits immediately, or did you grind your way up though the micros ?
Stars $1 45-player SNGs FTW!
If you done the grind, how long did it take you, and are there any important lessons or advise you could give to the micro players ?
A few months to get out of the $1s. Advice? Run good.
Do you ever intend to move up in limits and how do you intend to do this ?
I really dunno - I tend to keep withdrawing or donking money off at ring games, which keeps my active br pretty static.
Do you find it easier to win money at these limits ?
As opposed to what?
Have you a solid plan of action to move you game to the next level ?
Not really, I learn as I go along - it's not like I'm sitting about in the morning thinking "Okay, today I'm going to learn x, then tomorrow I'll learn y". Poker can't really be broken down like that.
Do you find yourself tilting and calling against the odds too much ?
I'd say that doing either of the above at any time at all is doing them 'too much', so yes in that respect. I tilt a lot less than the average player, though.
Do you re-deposit on a regular basis, and why do you think this is, are you constantly losing ?
My deposits now are exclusively bonus-whoring related, and bonus whoring opportunities have become a lot less abundant since the UIGEA crap, so I haven't deposited in ages.
Do you find yourself taking "shots" at a higher limit ?
Not really. I play mainly SNGs, so it's not really like ring games where you can look at a table, see if it's full of donks and join in, or like MTTs where you can take shots at bigger buyin guaranteed events and suchlike if they have overlays.
Do you (or can you) identify leaks in your game, do you even bother to look ?
Yes. When I first started doing the vid commentaries I went over a tournay I played a year or so ago. I never finished the vid because I was pretty shocked at how horribly I played back then.
