So i play in a home game at 1/2 dollar blinds and i run good enough to profit just about every time I play there. So I am weird about showing my whole cards as I had played in my local casino in the past and gain an advantage by not showing my cards. So just about everyone at this home game likes to show their cards and I am the only one who has a problem doing so and am just about being harassed into showing sometimes so I have been showing at times. I also don't ever ask to see anyone else's cards so I think I shouldn't feel bad if I go back to not showing them at all as some of the players there have been gaining too much information from this. Should I feel bad about this?

Welcome to CardChat Pjay,

Not showing your cards is just fine. Poker is poker and if everything is otherwise done by the rules there are not buts about it. No reason to feel bad.

In my opinion you should show your cards here. When you play poker in different environments and different kinds of poker you want to merge within everyone's comfort zone. You don't want to be the "different" one..blend in. If you're any good you won't lose anything and you'll probably gain because if you have any tells, they will be picked up..it's 1+1 for the average Joe to make a quick correlation and try to capitalize on any perceived advantage. That's when you jump all over them. Be nice, play smart and go for the throat.

I used to show my cards one time, bit after reading some posts on here a few years back I realized that I was just feeding my oponents with clues as to how I played my hands. SOOOOOOOOOOO ...... I do not show my hand any more.

Hello😀
Showing cards is bad form, well, in live poker one or two cards after a win, you can annoy your opponent and get a little psychological advantage 😀

Should I feel bad about this?
Nope.
Cards are shown by weak players who have little knowledge of poker. If you want to drain your opponents money, don't show your cards.

If it's a home game and it's only between family members and friends why not show your cards and have a good laugh about it especially if it's a bluff.
But it's your option if you want to show your cards or not and you shouldn't feel bad about your decision.

Hey
Showing a hand is absolutely your personal choice.

I show my hands in our league games, but not in the daily tournament.

Show your hand once or twice when you have a good hand just to convince your opponent that your not bluffing.

Also you can show your bluffing once in a while to confuse your opponent.

These are general tricks of the trade.

You should never show your cards unless you have the intention on playing mind games with your opponent

I think the more hands you show during the game, the more you exposed your style and strategy of play.

As a prallel example, It's like as if a football coach goes to the coach of the opposing team and confesses to him all the weaknesses detected by him on his team and that therefore he will want to attack them during the match.

So reread the simple example once more to understand it better and draw your own conclusions.

Wish you all a good day!

If you are aware of the kind of table image you want to have at the table and showing or not showing helps you build that image
then that's what you should do. There's a lot of merit in showing monsters to a table full of fish where you are otherwise likely to get called
by 3 or more players when holding AA/KK 😎

I take the view that if someone wants to see your cards, they should pay. As you say, otherwise you could run the risk of revealing too much information. If it is a home game among friends, it is of course something else, but in a serious poker tournament I usually do not show the cards out of principle.

I find it easiest to just never show them in any circumstance. Otherwise I find myself wanting to show them more often than I should. And each time you do you are giving away information.

In my opinion, in Cash Games it is good to show, because this type of game has very good and it is good to show your opponents that you will find yourself sometimes, which makes you more confident in betting when you have a better and end up bringing you to the confrontation. In tournaments, I didn't show my cards.

I can totally see the way you could psych out a player by showing your card (s) occasionally. But showing them too much or in the same circumstance can for sure be a negative.

In my case I made a decision a long long time ago that I would simply NEVER show my cards and I have stuck with that my entire poker life.

Correcting my comment above as there was an error in the English translation.

In my opinion, in cash games I think it's important to show your cards, because in this type of game players bluff a lot, this shows your opponents that you're going to bluff sometimes. This ends up making them confident to bet when you have an excellent hand, which brings them into the match. But in tournaments, I don't show my cards.

For me it looks much better if I am not showing the cards because for my opponent it is probably then much harder to figer out what is my playing style if I am bluffing whole time, having good hands or both so better I always hide cards when I win,I only show sometimes cards on some of the tournament when I have folded but I had full house with stupid cards like 9 2.

Showing or not showing your cards is the choice of each player, but if you decide to show you should know why you do it. With this move you can put pressure on your opponent psychoholically, showing him a bluff. I personally don't use it, but it might be worth it sometimes.

I believe you can manipulate peoples emotions and play on a psychological level by showing your cards. My advice is to learn a bit of psychology and manipulation tactics and keep switching your game to keep them guessing.
