I plan to go and try live poker (once it's open here in Netherlands). I read all the unwritten rules about poker when playing live. I am curious to know, when going in casino for poker, do i have choice what stakes to chose from? I read constantly about live 1/2$ when people going to casino?
What is minimum/maximum buyin for 1/2 for example?
How often to tip dealer and how much?
Ask the room manager what the buyin limits are (you can also get this information by calling ahead and asking them what the limits are).
Typically you just tip $1 whenever you win a pot that goes to the flop or farther. And if you feel like it you can tip $2, $3, $5 when you win a really big pot like if you stack someone.
I also like to ask if they keep their tips or if they share their tips with everyone else. If they get to keep their tips I tend to tip bigger when I win a big pot as a way of saying thank you to the specific dealer that made it happen.
