Hey Guys,
Returning player from Sammy Farha days :p I have noticed online games go much faster and therefore many more hands can be seen than Live. If I play 2-5 love, what is a similar stake Online?
Also, i prefer to not play more than 1-2 tables at a time.

Try $0.25/$0.50 and see how you do and you can move up to $0.50/$1 if you feel you beat it comfortable. Zoom or fast folding poker is generally a tougher game than regular tables and try and game select until you know where you fit in in the games. Also depending on what sites you play there is a noticeable difference in skill between some sites

I also play a maximum of 3 tables, I do not have enough concentration for more and start making hasty bets.

If I play zoom games, up to 3 tables I can play .... more, I lose concentration. At a regular table I always play 2 tables at a time. Regards

For comparable skill level of the average player probably something as low as 10c/5c also known as 10NL. In top of that some live players find part of their skill edge from live reads or "feels", which obviously do not exist online. This forum is full of posts, which basically go something like this:

"I have been playing live poker for 10 years, and I win in my local casino, but online I always lose because of some donkey hitting his runner-runner on me, rigged, rigged, rigged!!!!"

you are absolutely right, live the card distribution is slower, the only thing that resembles is the players' fold, and you can still play an online tournament while playing live. oiuHE oiuHE oIAUEH oaIUH eiUAH EiuaH E

I agree with the gist of this post but in my experience a 10NL line up is far far easier than a live 2/5 line up. The games are more different than you may assume though. I worked my way up from one cent, two cent, or 2NL to 100NL. I'd say the 50NL level is where you can run into tables similar to 2/5. Some tables will be good and others will be tough. I've been running good at 100NL so the game seems to actually have gotten easier but maybe it's because the dollar amounts actually start to sink in more and I make less hero calls and opponents seem to respect raises more as well. I'd recommend logging a couple thousand hands of 10NL just to get used to the online game before moving up to 50 or 100NL or greater.

I couldn't even beat 2NL at first. I wasn't crying "rigged" but it was very disheartening as I thought of myself as an above average player and was somewhat demoralized that I was losing at the lowest stake. Some of it may have been run bad, but there was also stack depth (100 BB max), bet sizing, polarization, stack offs, game speed, different reads with HUD and timing tells, and a lot of other things to adjust to. Took me 2k hands to adjust to 2NL then I moved up the ladder. I switched sites chasing a promotion after that instead of continuing to grind 100NL which I regret as the new site doesn't have as many games so it's hard to move up but I feel stuck for the duration of the promotion at least since I moved my money there. Looking forward to moving back to pokerstars in a month or two and trying more 100NL.

$2 - $5 is about the same as .5 1.0 of course player types and skill level s vary wildly
in the low to micro stakes

I agree with the gist of this post but in my experience a 10NL line up is far far easier than a live 2/5 line up.

I will have to take your word on this, since I dont play live poker :)

However I do think, it also matter, which site you play on. If the site is restricted to accept players from only one or more high income countries like the US, then it makes sense, that you wont meet a lot of "for profit" players until 50NL. In those countries it simply does not make sense to play any lower for profit, so "for profit" players either make it to 50NL and above, or they stop playing after a while.

On international sites on the other hand you have a lot of "for profit" players from low income areas like Eastern Europe, who get stuck at lower stakes like 10NL but still continue to grind for years, and who make those games tougher, than they should ideally be. This has been a major issue for the online poker industri for at least a decade, and is the reason why all those "anti-reg" initiatives have been taken like ban on HUDs, limiting multi tabling etc.

With all that being said even on a site like 888 Poker there is still a noticeable jump in the toughness of games, as you move from 20/30NL to 50NL. Or at least this has been my experience from playing a very limited number of hands at 50NL. In fact I am not really sure, 50NL on 888 Poker is even long term beatable for me with a 5% rake, 4$ per pot cap and no rake-back whatsoever, because I live in sweden. So I might leave it at those 1k hands or so, I have gotten under my belt, and continue to focus on tournaments.

In my opinion, it is very important to stay focused. Sometimes I play 6-8 tables, and it does not affect my concentration and my results.
