I'm pretty new to O8, and I love it. This seemed like the best play. I could have gotten half the pot if a 8 or lower came on the river.

thinking back, I should have folded. I was probably playing for half the pot.

Did I post his question in the wrong section? Or is omaha 8 just not that popular?

I don't think you post it in the wrong spot. Just not a game that most play.. I'm assuming.. This is the first time that I've seen this post. I don't even think you're playing to split the pot, but possibly only quarter it on the turn which is when you have any real equity in the hand. The river you have A high against two all ins and still pay the guy off... What hand are you ahead of on the river? AJ hands? Why did you call river? but I fold the turn. even drawing at equity. You could be playing to quarter the pot. most likely split the pot AT BEST.

Play to scoop in 08 ~ If you think that way then you will make money with the right play in the long run . So many hands look +EV pre flop in 08 when you are learning but folds once you understand the game better. Play to scoop or 3/4 pots !!

Omaha 8U second guessing

thanks for the responses. I understand.

Omaha 8U is a different beast. If you're still learning, stick to tourneys, micro cash games. Sounds like you are doing well to analyze the pot odds; should I stay in if I chop the pot? Others are giving good advice on scooping the pot vs. chopping. Sounds great until you get the card you do not want, wrecks your high or low.
With experience you will be able to identify the hands you are more likely to scoop. Once you get the scoop down, and win those, they will offset the hands you are forced to chop.

Every once in a while online you get a chance to play Omaha freerolls. Haven't seen a 8U Omaha tourney, but your site may have them, check it yourself.

I play micro cash on Americas cardroom. I also play play money on pokerstars cash. In tourneys I always feel like I play too few hands.

You had a lot of outs, but you did not hit anything on the river, but you had already invested so many chips that you could not fold for this low value.

That’s not true. If you know for certain you’re beat you can absolutely fold, and save those bb

i have been playing for 2 years! i can give you some advice
first of all if its a loose game i would have 3 bet pot to keep it HU IP With one opp if its a tight game than your play was right pre now comming to the flop.
here when you are calling you are most of the time playing for half pot by only calling which is a big and common leak and you dont even have that many outs to low you have only two wheel card if an ace or a 2 hits for low you will have a very weak low!
even if sometimes you are in a big pot and you are playing for the low always have 3 wheel cards with Ace a must!

I was wondering that. In a tourney it might make sense to put in the rest of the chips. I do that sometimes. I think I am short in a cash game so I shove marginally. That's silly I think.
