hi all , I have been wondering , are MTT all about range and position vs cash games all about betting patterns ? I have been playing more cash games recently and seems other players don't care about range or position at all, so trying to "range them" seems less effective, better reads coming from betting patterns and player history etc....
what do you all think ?
thanks
.
any tips on how to combat calling staions in cash game would be nice too :)

I'll answer the last bit... against calling stations check sheen you don't have it and bet when you do! If they're calling then why bluff?

I will second this, only bet against calling stations when you have something. You can always extract value from them and they are vulnerable to having their stack milked a little at a time. Check when you don't have much and bet when you do. Makes it really easy to navigate.

hi all , thanks for the replies, yes against calling stations I mainly bet when I have something, the problem sometimes is I'll have top pair on the flop, they may have a piece, then they catch up on the turn or river, so I play it by gut feeling, more recently I have been thrashing them hard, now they're a bit scared and fold more on the flop , they have learnt that chasing is costly, some still do though,

But we don't want them to fold.... we want them to call (or to 'chase') but we want to bet in a way that has them making a mistake to call.

Something to keep in mind, if a calling station re-raises you (ie. on the river) they're ONLY doing so when they have GOT IT. (calling stations generally don't raise... they 'call')
