Hi everyone,

I am looking to join a study group preferably for microstake cash game. I currently play 2NL on 888 poker and sometimes partypoker. I prefer a small group with active players because I think it would be more efficient. Please let me know if there is a Discord room or something like that.

Thank you

I honestly dont think anyone who is trying to get better will join a microstake group, or you will not attract the people you hope to meet, as microstakes arent really hard to beat and reasonably good people will move up. You are better off watching youtube analysis and reading books imo

Do you have any suggestions for youtube channels or books helpful with beating microstakes?

I have Skype and Discord, perhaps a group of us here at Cardschat can create our own group?

I am also playing 2nl but on pokerstars.

Reply here or PM if interested in starting up a group.

Jonathan Little has a lot of free content on youtube also. Some are webinars for small stakes games. If you sign up on his websites he will send you links to videos every week and he has a contest running now to give away 3 wsop Big50 seats and a years subscription to pokercoaching.com. Doug polk at upswingpoker.com has lots of free content also.

Nothing wrong with organizing an NL2 study group with players in the same pool. But you might find it more beneficial to receive sweat sessions from someone who plays at least NL50-100. They'll have more wisdom than a same-stakes grinder and can give you new perspectives.

Microstakes are not easy to beat, especially because the rake is so high. Joining a study group is a great idea, as long as everyone stays active and really wants to move up. You can find a lot of free information on youtube (Jonathan Little, Smartpokerstudy, Microgrinders Skuzpoker, Assassinato coaching, Alec Torelli...). If you want to read books check out The grinders manual by Peter Clarke and some of Jonathan Littles books.

I'm game! Discord Asixx014. I agree with @CrimeaRiver though. For really quality info high stakes players would probably have better insight

I play in PokerStars tournaments, cash back actually a lot and know the best experience in the game is a game with good players.

I used to be a 1 penny and 2 penny player. Play anywhere from 25NL to 500 NL online. Building a roll right now at 25NL...Anyway, best to install poker tracker 4 and review your hands, review position,Find leaks and seal them, takes years of dedication. Realistical expect 5 -10 years to become highly competitive. Good luck!

Some things I liked and found very helpful were " Gripsed " Evan Jarvis .... who has many times many video lessons and even some full courses for free ... they just started a new one on Udemy and it basically starts from zero .... although not totally focused on micros I found it to be very helpful and it is also free ... and much of it's content can be applied to Micros.

James Sweeney May be easier to find him online as " Splitsuit " also has what I found to be very intelligent, and straightforward lessons ... again not totally centered on Micros but you will find dedicated videos to Micro subjects...

" SmartPokerStudy " has some Micro dedicated videos and you may also wish to take a look at Micro Grinder Poker School, which is all about Micro stakes play, although I found the ranges they used for starters or beginners extremely tight and they did not last long with me although a lot of other information from them was very helpful ....

All of these can be searched and found on YouTube and although they are all trying to sell you something .. they give huge amounts of info for free...

Good luck !!!!

Fair point. Really enjoyed your latest video from that forum, exactly the type of content and thinking that I would like to engage with more. In terms of the drive hud, looks phenomenal, but I mainly play on sites that are not supported. Just wondering, even if I cannot use the drive hud as an actual HUD on those sites, will I still be able to export hands from my hand histories to Drive HUD in order to study away from the table? Thanks for your help and pointing me to the forum.

Anyone watching this thread who is newer, like me, I have found Blackrain79's take on microstakes very educational. He does a fair amount of YT content and his blog is chock full of good content, too. It was because of his content that I ended up buying PokerTracker 4 and using his HUD profiles to follow along with the hand reviews. I also find his videos entertaining when he comes across some huge fish!

Yes, I follow him and I have purchased all of his products (except micro stakes playbook). I can say this guy knows what he is talking about. He started his blog in 2007 and still alive. I use his strategies and the HUD profile for my bankroll challenge.
