The five community cards would have made the royal flush so pot was split but because split pots are raked his opponents big river bet would have made both players losers in the hand and the house the winner.

I'm 100% sure that rachelle2291 is right!!!

I hate when this happens with boards that have the nuts and the opponent bets. cmon maaaan the rake. one time i think I folded if I remember correctly lol

Yes preflop it was folded to me in small blind and I called with not much and he had not much in the big blind and he checked. The checking happened fast as the royal took shape on the board until he made big river bet which I quickly called and we tied with royal flushes. My theoretically correct move on the river would probably be to have folded since pot was so small prior to his bet. And if this was the case was his big river bet theoretically correct since I should have theoretically folded the river.

Hahahaha. hmmm i think he still can't beat the rake if he bets too much, no?

Oh and one other little tidbit of information with regards to this hand. It never actually happened! It was just a figment of my imagination. But just because a story is not true does that mean it should not be told?

This is my second 'puzzle post'--my first was on July 20 2018 titled What hand did I have? Every year or two I will try and post another one and some might be better than others and some might have really happened and some may have not (my first one was not fiction btw). But the ones that did not actually happen, well they would be possible and maybe happened somewhere in the world. (to quote Jimmy B--must be five o'clock somewhere).

You probably couldn't lose with a Royal flush. This is the highest combination. This dude with the ACE also thought he was a winner. But I found a more powerful flash.

I have not been doing all that well lately in poker and the other day I managed to lose money in a cash no limit holdem ring game with a royal flush online! How could this even happen? Hint-- I did not do anything dumb but my opponent did. I also did not do a misclick.
This is interesting.
How is this possible? Does anyone understand this?

royal flush

are there any on line sites that use wild cards? no other way to lose with royal flush ,sounds kind of fishy. I heard it on line must be true , lol.

I did post the 'answer to the riddle' with my above post but I will try to make it clearer.

The five community cards made up the royal flush so it was a split pot and since there was betting on the river both players money balances would have been lower than when they started the hand because of rake.

Who, and most importantly why, comes up with games where RF it's not the coolest combination. And here is the most important question, who are these... people who play these games!??
