Hello all,

Played live for the first time last week- a 1-3 game in California. It was a lot of fun.

A few hands in, I discovered that the dealer takes 6 dollars out of every pot on the flop, $1 on the turn, and $1 on the river. Ridiculous. ( There was a limped 2 player hand where the pot was $0 on the turn... really made my brain hurt to watch that one!)

I just wanted to know what to expect out of live cash games... there has to be better spots than this, even in CA, but what are the typical rake structures?

This casino is close to my house, but I wasn't sure this spot could be long-term profitable if the rake is that high. How do you account for rake vs. bad players when determining if you should play at a certain place? Curious what live grinders think.

Where i'm from the dealer takes no rake if the flop was not dealt e.g. preflop raise, reraise, fold.
But when there is action with flop and so on the rake is 10% with a cap of 200 srd(usd 9-10)

So thats why when we do play at such games where the rake is so high we play selectively and definitely don't play many hands or like a maniac.

I do remember that when I played live cash at Atlantis resort in the Bahama's when the PCA was running in 2015, that the cap was $3 if there was action. No action no rake.

Good luck!!

Sounds like fun. I have never experienced a boat totally absorbed by the commission in Latin America. I guess it's to avoid multi-limpers pot? In my country there is a fixed commission and some rooms charge playable amounts in postflop. That is, passive play is not punished. But in my live experience, that style of play is not very common either. In general, passivity comes more from the side of abandoning many hands preflop, then you can see a little more action in postflop.
Greetings.

Good afternoon!
In my country, and I live in Belarus, the rake in live cash games is charged no more than 5% of the bank, but no more than a certain amount, as far as I remember.

OK, so it looks like I'm just getting screwed!

I'm already looking for a new game.
