i think the only way to detect a bot is if everyone at the table says good luck or hi, or starts a discussion at the table, then the ones that dont reply might be bots

I usually have my chat turned off. I don't care to see player chat as it may become a distraction. Too many people talk and argue over hands and have no idea what they are talking about. One clue I do look for is hours and hours of playing with no break or sitting out, then I usually color code them as possibly being a bot.

The sites track everything a player does. If they encounter anomalies (by whatever nature) in the behavior someone is playing they will notice.

I don't think I've encountered a bot so far, then again you can't really notice can you? So if there is bots they are not hurting the game. If they were you can be pretty sure the sites will take measures to protect their playerpool, because in the end both want the same thing, your money
