It shouldn't make a difference unless you are afraid of losing your buy-in. Read about bankroll management.

Hi! If you are good at playing cash, you can increase your bankroll. I've done it before. But more often than not, I lost everything to the end. Therefore, I prefer cheap sng. I think it gives me a better chance of winning. Spin is also a bankroll drain. But this is my opinion, who does what better.

A lot of people use the word "bankroll" without actually understanding, what it is. A bankroll is an amount of money, which will protect a winning player from going broke due to simple variance, or at least make it very unlikely.

This is mainly important for professional players, because if poker is your only source of income, its obviously a disaster to not have money, because then you can not play. So its like being an Uber driver and crash your car without insurance. Now you have no car, and you also have no job, which is even worse.

So first of all not everyone needs a bankroll. If you play poker for fun, and stay at low buyins, it should not be a problem to make another deposit from your salary now and then if needed. And second its not possible to have a bankroll, unless you are a winning player. You have no track record to prove you are a winning player, so you need to assume, you are probably not.

The answer therefore is, that cash games are great for practicing, so that you can perhaps become a winning player, but you need to set some money aside for that. You can deposit 50$ or 100$ and then start grinding away at 2NL, while also studying and improving your game. And then just see, how it goes.

Hi.
Strange question.
If you have a small bankroll, then the only right solution is to keep playing freerolls and increase your bankroll.
Good luck.

Well ... it is clear that there is a difference when it comes to playing tournaments and cash tables ... and at the beginning when you start playing cash ... you may feel the fear of losing ... so the ideal is to always have a good bankroll ... for example if you play at NL25 ... you should have at least a bankroll of $ 500 ... so this way you will have the confidence to play knowing that if you lose a few (Buy-in $ 25) it will not affect your bankroll ...!

Practice first

I am a freeroll player, i won many free tournament as well in itm. But i loss my bank roll in cash game and sometimes i doubled my BR in cash game, whenever i lost, i lost big amount.

I would continue to practice at free rolls or very low stakes before I commit more funds to a new bank roll. It seems that you are not quite ready to move up.

Yeah, well is it? This can take forever. On the other taking a shot is risky after all and may leave you behind. If it works though you get a boost that actually gives you a possibility to play with management. It can go either way.

Cash games

Generally it's good to have good bankroll management, but if your just staring to build a bankroll (ie won a couple of free rolls) I would recommend playing cash as the variance will actually still be much lower than say a 20 cent large field tournament.

Even if you are the best player in the world, variance can make you broke without proper BR management:cool:

How small is small? I've seen 30 buyins is recommended for NL2 which would mean a $60 bankroll. That's a small bankroll but many people have far less (me included lol)

2NL

Although cash buy-ins will be higher than some tournaments the variance will be way lower so it's actually better to play cash games. Although with a small bankroll it's more likely you'll go bust it still gives you the best chance.

One thing that you also need to understand is that cash games and tournaments have two completely different strategies, so they need to be looked at differently. The biggest difference is the blind increase in tournaments, where as they are fixed at cash games. At a cash table you can wait for better staring hands without the worry of being blinded out.

My thought is if you want to play tournaments, then build a tournament bankroll. If you are winning at that you can take some money out of that and play cash games or have two separate bankrolls.

Of course, it is best to build a decent bankroll playing in a lot of freerolls, but if you are not patient and the amount is insignificant, I think it is better to look for luck in spins, this is certainly not the best idea, but you only need to beat 2 opponents to double the amount. There are 3 players in the tournament and You have more than a 30% chance of winning.:)
