4 handed game. Grumpy player in big blind bets out I hold Top 2 pair A,K. I raises, he reraises. He is short stack so I push. Suddenly, from behind his black birds he pulls out, 3 big chips, effectively putting all of MY chips on the line. I politely call the floor stating that according to their policy, larger chips have to be in front. They stated that it was too late, and then reminded him that big chips need to be visible in front, so opponents have an accurate count of chip power.

He had a set of jacks and busted me. I never would have pushed had I thought he had 3 huge chips hidden behind his 100 dollar chips...

Folks, play poker... don't shoot angles, and by the way I have played with him before, he knew damn well what he did.

Big chips belong in front, dont do the chip ambush..

I am a bit upset. This is not a bad beat post, but a post about angle shooting! Anyone ever have an angle shot at them?

Haven't played live in a long time but used to play table stakes all the time. We always had the folks trying to manipulate the size of their stack all the time. Rules are rules and if it requires trickery to win then I'm not impressed. I'd let the house know how I feel about this and ask them to pay particular attention to the tables...

Wouldn't be allowed in my casino, hiding chips is not tolerated or accepted. He would've been smeared all over the car park if he tried that cheating shit with me.The pit boss was not doing his job properly either, that is blatant cheating and he should only have played what you could see. Some casinos have rules on this and some don't,about time we had an industry standard i think

Bill, the only thing I can add is that you, my friend, are a class act. Remember the guy (which I'm sure for you is an automatic even if he wasn't an angle shooting asshole) and next time he sits down with you or you are called to play on a table with him, either simply refuse to sit down and inform those at his table that you don't play with angle shooters like grumpy, or sit and constantly make sure he isn't shooting until you're able to bust him out. Damn man, sorry to hear that.

Doyle Brunson tried the same thing on Tom McEvoy years ago at the WSOP (McEvoy won that year). Don't know if voluntarily exposing cards to get a reaction qualifies one as an angle shooter. But I've never seen in on TV which makes me wonder if the WPT has a rule against it.
