You start off with AA. Given various combinations of pot size, players left in etc, how do you decide how many streets to fire on?

party poker ante structure at 0.50/1 is a joke and tends to make the pot huge compared to the bets, so people call with just about anything, which is quite frustrating.

wiarlu raises on third most hands, hence limp-reraise here.

If you had AA in hold 'em and 6 people were seeing the flop, would you do the same thing?

Stud is a drawing game, and people will draw. How many times have you been playing and someone has trip X's up and 2 people are still calling?

I think you played this hand fine, you just didn't improve. And yes, that ante structure is ridiculous.

lol I love the 'I have aces'...of course it didn't work though - I'll bet if your hole cards were face-up they'd still chase.

I wish I could give an educated reply to this, but I'm clueless in stud.

As bad as people are about calling down hands in Hold'em it seems to be an absolute epidemic in Stud. Many players think any starting hand is good enough to call an opening bet. If they happen to improve somewhere along the way they will call it all the way down even if they miss. Another problem in Stud is the betting structure doesn't allow for the type raising needed to scare people off of drawing hands. My advice with any great starting hand is to fire a couple of times, if you haven't improved and are still being called by two or more people then get out. If you are not beaten already you are probably going to get run down by at least one of them on 6th or 7th street.

Played almost perfectly. Only play I'd question is limp-reraising on 3rd, as there's a chance you won't get the chance to once you've limped. Also, unless you're limp-reraising with other hands sometimes, you're essentially turning your Aces up (mind you from the other player's play here I'd guess they're idiots and them getting a read on you is the last of your worries).

You have no reason to think you're behind until casha's board pairs on 6th, and nobody has shown any real aggression until then, so you lead. Yep, chances are there are a lot of draws out there, but of course you have to charge people to complete them.

Get used to hands like this - the variance in a loose stud game is ridiculous. :)

Why didn't you raise the first round of betting? That's a hand you definetly need to raise. But other than that, you played it fine. One thing about Aces in stud is, it's great to have to start but it's porbably not enough to win if you don't improve. Looking at the other player's boards, there shouldn't have bene much to give you a warning that you are probably beat.

Exactly - he literally announced he had aces, after a limpraise (LOL) so it just goes to show that you really don't even need to mix your play up to disguise this one.

I would of probably played it the same but I would of been prepaired to of been beat. As far as you knew you had the best hand but if people are still calling the you know that they have something. Unless you had a god read you pretty much did what you needed to do. Now just take the loss and move on to the next hand because you'll win the next one that goes down like that.
