Hello, in my opinion they are different strategies, the Cash player is more aggressive, and the tournament player is a much more strategic player, I like to play chash but at low levels, sometimes the pressure to play at levels will make you play too much passive, and being passive in cash games is not profitable

Of course, the strategy for playing cash games and tournaments should be different. Personally, I play cache more tightly than in tournaments. In tournaments, blinds are constantly growing and sometimes there is no time to wait for a good hand, because of this I often have to take risks. I try to play tightly aggressively in both cache and tournaments, but in tournaments a lot depends on the size of the stack, and I often have to change my game strategy.

A lot of cash game pros wait with open arms to feast on tournament players that drop by the cash tables. Two totally different skill sets. The tournament specialist usually gets eaten alive at cash games. The cash game specialist usually doesn't do all that well in tourneys. The specialist of both is the most dangerous player to encounter.

Cash game vs Mtt

Good morning everyone.
In my opinion the cash game is a fair game where the factor of hality and knowledge plays a bigger role than luck.
I have been playing poker for 1 year and already got some good results which makes my account profitable, plus Mtt games, I can't grow my bankroll, but in cash game my bankroll is growing steadily as it is a very deep game , I can play the post flop and when I have a strong hand I bet.
I lost count of how many Mtts I was eliminated with Bad bets, since in the cash game it is very rare for me to take Bad bet, because I only bet when I have a strong hand.
In a few hours of cash I earned almost $ 30.00 without much effort.

Hero with KK vs AA of the villain.
flop 9h 7s Kd
50% villain bet, hero, raise pot, villain raise pot, hero All in
turn Ks river 6h
This hand was played at NL $ 5.
Cash game is better than Mtt, in my opinion.

In cash games you can chase marginal +EV edges because you can always top up and you will gain money in the long run. In tournaments doing the same repeatedly can bust you out.

If I want to profit from a low sum I would like to compete in the tournament .. but if I were to make a profit at a cash game table .. :)

I have done that occationally, but to be honest its not the greatest thing in the world. There are a lot of adjustments between tournaments and cash games, and having to do them hand for hand put a lot of toll on our brain. Better to fire up some SnGs, be more flexible with tournament selection or even play on multible sites. Sometimes its fine also to just chill out with 1-2 tables, until the next tournament begin.

free rolls the players do all-in anytime.. every time…. its s*cks .. but its easy to counter…
but in the cash, there's a lot of bluff, trick, trap… so its more difficult.. need to play safe

there is no difference in cache or tournaments, each player has his own style according to which he plays.

I’ll play both but typically make better decisions when playing tournaments with the need to survive to make it in the money 💰.

I do better in tournaments, in cash I have already lost two times my bankroll, I have to study cash a lot to see if I have a profit.

In what ways do you think player's change their style of play for tournaments versus cash games?

These are just 2 completely different games and there is too much to say in one post.

Due to the antes, alternating stack sizes and payout structure tournaments have many more variables in play than do cash games.

Generally a more aggressive style is rewarded, although at specific stages of the tournament playing tighter is essential. It's so much about your stack size, your opponents stack size and the stack distribution on your table and in the field. That's what makes them so engaging.

Here's a little video I made to help cash players transition

And here's a much longer one (about 2 hours) that's a deep dive into common mistakes

I agree 100%

Because tournament and cash games require a different mindset and strategy it's hard for the brain to juggle both.

SNGs on the other hand have the same format as MTT so it's easy to get in that zone and just stay in the flow

Well put fundiver, always bringing the good knowledge you are :nurse:

cash and mtts

mtts: have phases, pasive, agresive and steals bbs, and your play around of your stack
cash: play around of each player, and have one form of play, solid and tigh (micros)

Both tournaments have their satisfaction and pleasure. cash gives you the opportunity to make a lot of money much faster while at a tournament you have to play at least a few good hours.

In what ways do you think player's change their style of play for tournaments versus cash games?

I think a player's style of play for cash games is more aggressive and ready to bet. While for tournament's, a player might be more safe and only bet high if they have something really good such as full house.:jd4:

the player’s style does not change, just in the tournament you need to sit for a while after the game takes the form of a game of cache
