Had someone ask me the other day about books that focused on cash game play. Once I mentioned a few, they seemed really out of date. It has been long time since I bought a book for one and most have been MTT formatted.

If anyone can offer a newer and comprehensive book for someone who knows the game. They looking for some advanced theories for all aspects of live play.

Thank you in advance for all information regarding this subject.

The mental game of poker is a good one if you're struggling with tilt, mindset, grinding. It's a ten year old book, but most principles discussed in the book still apply today.

Any of the popular GTO books will work for up to date advanced strategy. Modern Poker Theory is often recommended, but I don't own that one.

A less popular choice for a GTO book but still a decent one is Play Optimal Poker. Best for readers without a background in game theory since all the concepts are explained before diving into poker (think equilibrium, indifference, balanced strategies in different games etc.)

For the basic concepts and maths stuff, the older books are still fine since they don't change much. For all the non-strategy live stuff I really have no suggestions.

Modern Poker Theory is a great book. Books by Matthew Juanda are also good read.

I've just started listening to Master Micro Stakes Poker by Alton Harden, I'm enjoying it, 6Max cash game focused, speed or regular play

Modern Poker Theory by Michael Acevado is one of the best books to read on poker. It emphasizes GTO principles and has a scientific/mathematic approach to decision making.
The structure of the book resembles academic textbooks, which is very helpful in studying incomplete information/mixed strategy game like poker.

Thanks for the great information. It was my son who ask me. Gave him all the recommendation. Hopefully he makes more money than the books he invested in.

Play Optimal Poker 2 is the best 6 max cash book on the market hands down. POP 1 is decent too, but it's too theoretical and dry, while POP2 is more practical with more hands analysis.

As mentioned in the thread Janda's and Brokos' books are fantastic

I also think Jonathan did a great job with Mastering Small Stakes No Limit Holdem

https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Sm...=mastering+small+stakes&qid=1632849027&sr=8-1

And to complement his book I wrote one which will be released in December "Mastering Small Stakes Cash Games" which deals a lot with the how to be a pro poker player side of things and a lot of topics not covered in other books

https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Sm...=mastering+small+stakes&qid=1632849027&sr=8-3

Hope these help!

A good topic for development. I am also starting to read one of the books proposed by the participants.
