I have read BlackRains Crushing the Micros. I play NL2 and hoping to soon move up to NL5. I feel some of the concepts in crushing the micros cant be used to the extent they used to be. Even at NL2 there seems to be a lot more regs than when he wrote this book (I play at Bcp mostly). Maybe I just flat out suck but after watching some of his videos I wish I could sit at those tables.

I plan to read Small Stakes No Limit but Ed Miller next and possibly one of Harringtons book. Anyone else have any suggestion for specifically 2NL or 5Nl?

Hi Stoica,

BlackRain79 has an updated version of his Book "Crushing the Micros" and its for 2015.

Also, he very specifically advises people to study Strategy for the Stakes they are Playing!

There is no point in applying "Fancy Play" or delving into the applications of Meta Game at Stake levels like 2 and 5NL where most of our Competition is drooling!

He also says that his Books are for assisting players at the Micro's not for Mid or High Stakes.

To Quote from Blackrain79 directly regarding studying and training materials.

"There is simply no point whatsoever in watching some high stakes crusher talk about NL2000 when you play NL10.

These stakes have absolutely nothing in common.

There is actually a good chance that you will get worse results by trying to emulate what you see in these videos in your own games. This is because you are learning a set of strategies and a way to think about the game that simply flies way over the head of your current competition.

Likewise, there is often no point in watching some high stakes phenom play NL10. This is because he likely hasn't played in these games in ages and will bring the same high stakes mentality to a very simple game which requires a very simple strategy to beat."

Also, BlackRain has two books out and here is a concise description.

"
Intended Audience

Crushing the Microstakes is primarily targeted at NL2, NL4 and NL5 full ring and 6max cash games, both Zoom and regular tables.

It was written for beginners and people who are struggling at these stakes in general. Crushing the Microstakes provides a solid foundation for higher stakes as well but does not represent a complete guide for those games.

My other book "Modern Small Stakes" is targeted at NL10, NL25 and NL50 full ring and 6max cash games, Zoom and regular tables. If you play in these games and breezed through the NL2-NL5 levels, then you would be better served to start there."

Regards,

Gypsy:)
