Live 1/2 NLHole cards: 3h4h UTG +1 calls 2
UTG +2 raise to 8
4 folds
SB raises to 30
BB folds

Hero calls 30
UTG +2 raises all in to 250~
SB calls all in 250
Hero calls all in 120

Board 4d6h6cTc8d

UTG +1 and SB show AKo

Hero wins pot 432 dollars

SB had us all covered. This is of course a very loose limp with 34 suited followed by calling a 3 bet and calling a 4 bet all in.

My question is in theory was the UTG +1 making a theoretically correct play? intuitively i think not, because he didnt have a lot of fold equity with AK in that spot. My hand (34hh) had 40% against the two other known hole cards.

AKo is one of the only hands where overbet shoving pre is close to optimal. So 10x-ing the 3-bet isn't all that weird. This play works because you're getting it in always anyway, but you're never too thrilled about it. So eventhough fold equity is subjected to decreasing marginal returns (with sizing as the input) that doesn't really matter because the money is going in anway and you really want them to fold. Play is often balaced by also overbet shoving KK.

Ps,

I know you didn't ask for this, but open limping and stacking with 43s is not great.
