Hey - not sure if you've gone to the casino already - but I think you should be ok with 800. I usually buy in 5/10 limit with 300-400 and doubling that for a 10/20 sounds ok. Haven't played 10/20 before so I wouldn't know if the game is that much different from than a 5/10 game.

Another thing I look at is I take a quick peek around the table at the size of the chip stacks. I remember playing a 5/10 once and I saw that only 2 people (11-seat table) had stacks above 300. So I bought in for 400. I know it doesn't matter for limit at how much you're going to buy for, but I wanted other players see that I'm adding a sizeable amount of money around the table and I'm very willing to use it.

Let us know how it goes and what you bought in for and what your thoughts are about your selection. I'd definitely benefit from the information you can provide! :)

i have played a few times live at 1/2 nl and most i bought in for was 150 and it was still not really enough at least for the table i was on... alot of agressive players which can be profitable but waiting for the cards to come can get expensive at 6 bux ever 1/2 hour and actually i started buying in for 100 and up and down but couldnt really turn it into much with the 20 or 30 raises that was coming every hand that was first night. day or so later bought in for 150 and 1st hand KTo before i even had my chips and i just folded it which i wish i hadnt done was 1 of the best hands i had gotten and woulda flopped a straight and two others bet it up on 2 pair each till show down both thinking they had it would have easily tripled up on 1st hand but wasnt real comfortable playing with the chips i hadnt even gotten yet.... and kto isnt that much of a good hand but considering the cards i had been getting it was a major improvement and my day ended with about 60 left and slow playing AA and lost to straight flush which was fine cause they had the AA cracked gets you 100 bux.
so either way i'd be ahead at least on that hand... and the g/f wanted to get outta there so i called it day and we left.
