That's the 3rd flopped set hand you've posted in the last 2 days! :(

I think you played it pretty standard all the way, no point raising the river, he could easily have a Queen.

not hard to flop them when you are playing 4 tables though, through like 544 hands Im bound to flop them once and awhile.

About as standard as they come.

(Lawstudent's move on the river isn't bad, btw, if he folds to a raise. He's going to call one more bet anyway, and this way he will get value out of some A-9 and whatnot that may check behind, whereas the only hands that will normally raise him are straights.)

what straight hands are we afraid of here except AQ/QJ [would be a dumb way to play qj]? i think we raise this river, too.

I would have raised on that river, most likely you would have gotten the call and it would have been a bigger pot.

Good luck at your tables

Any queen at all. This is $.50/$1. His coldcalling range from the SB is huge. :p

But wouldnt account for much of postflop.

I guess a lot of players WOULD play AQ that way though.

i think we are only afraid of QJ/AQ here. I dont see QK/QT sticking around this long.

Pre-flop, hand range is huge to call a 3-bet from SB, but not that huge. AJs and up, TT and up and maybe KQ suited: not a lot of people are in the hand and he knows he will have to play OOP.

On the flop he called your cap and at these limits, I rarely see a capped flop unless someone has two pairs, trips, an overpair, a made hand (QJ or AA) or a combo draw. Him donking the turn and calling your raise indicates a great deal of strength, so I don't think KQ is likely here. Only hand I'd be worried is QJ, but him not 3 betting the turn with the absolute nuts indicates he doesn't have it.

As was played, the only hand that makes sense is two pairs, AA or TT and maybe AQ (but even AQ would 3 bet the turn). Raise river, we're ahead way more than 55% of the time here and aren't likely to get repopped while very likely to get called (villain has sown a willigness to go to showdown in this pot pretty much 100% of the time by betting river).

Nice post Jeff :) .

I don't think AQ would 3 bet the turn, but I do agree with everything else you say and I would raise the river also. I know I shouldn't be disagreeing with FP :) when it comes to limit and I'm trying not to be results oriented, but its clearly not QJ and the only Q I can see based on the betting is AQ, and even that doesn't seem likely (why 3bet the flop?), although possible. The only other Q I can see is maybe QcXc, but again why 3bet the flop?
