Blew $50 on garbage. With my preflop raise of 5x BB, I forsee a fold here but he calls regardless. Could I have played this any differently? Oh well, suited connectors will get you.

I mean, there is absolutely no way I could've forseen 89 in this spot upon further thought. I would've understood if he was hanging on to his low pocket pair this far but I just can't understand the play on his part. On a smaller raise, I might consider playing those cards to switch up my play but that was a 5x raise. I'm just dumb-founded to lose like that.

calling with 9c8c on the flop is not that bad of a play, but I have to agree calling $8 with an open ended is alittle much, did this happen and fulltilt because players there call everything it seems

Yeah that is true but I just didn't even think he was holding a hand like that. I was thinking pocket pair or Kx the entire way. I guess it was a terrible read on my part but I was way ahead off the flop like I thought.

^^^ this

5 players in ahead of you is a LOT... I'd be making it somewhere around 8 BBs ($4) to go

I agree with what dbitel and combuboom. I typically raise 4x BB +1 for every limper, so with 4 limps b4 u this would be a raise to 4.00

It all depends upon the intent of the raise. If you were trying to buy the pot right there, then ur raise was too small. If you were trying to build the pot for when your top pair came, then you acted correctly. I agree calling a 6:1 shot (open ended str8 draw) with such a large bet seems ludicrous. I've had people call 4 X BB with 84s preflop and then watch my money go when they flushed on the rvr. I dont know if other poker sites are any different but this one is certainly filled with LUCKY fools.

I think I'm gonna have to put Mattsbaby20 to my favorite opponents list, first calling with 10-8o a 2.5$ raise, after that calling off 8$ on a gutshot and after that 20$ on mplk.

yea mattsbaby20 must not value money at all. definatley think you played this hand well. 10 8 off obviously a terrible call and 98 despite what some are saying is not a great call, poor at best. you cant help the fact that you raised 5x bb and got called with those hands... better luck next time
