BTN was playing pretty aggressive since the table was really tight. I had folded a few blinds to BTN before so I presumed he/she thought I was pretty tight too.

Afterwards they said to me it was because I had a little stack and even if they knew (I'm not sure whether they did at the time or not) they would've called me regardless.

I don't see how you could do anything else but go all in with the made straight. Villian had the poorest hand that would be reasonable to call (two spades is better, of course). Either is about 1:3 to beat you.

Thanks pigpen :)

Do you think what they said about the stack size was true?

This is a ring game, not a tournament. In a tournament, there is more of a reason to call a small stack since putting somebody out is paramount. In cash games, no matter what the size, if somebody bets with -$EV, shame on them.
