Ass face takes pot.

Ok so Ass face (titan) takes the pot, I am a little upset and I ask what he had. He tells me nothing, and goes on to talk about how his plan the whole time was to Wait for the river and bluff me. Now to me I don't see me folding unless that heart hit, so his plan was totally counting on that third heart hitting the river. I am just wondering if this sounds like a ridicules plan. I felt I was representing the ace. quite obvious I think. I know my mistakes I souldn't have called with a9 off, and under the gun. But I called that which I souldn't, but could I don't think there is any way that was a bluff. Could it?

You probably should NOT have been so timid. You never convinced him that was your pot.

I've banked on a flush completing to make a bluff I started from the beginning. Worked out pretty well for me, I can't really say if that's what he was doing though.

you were represting an ace but when you checked the river you represented ace with weak kicker and opened yourself up to be bluffed out of the hand. IMO he was bluffing

I don't know that it was a complete bluff but a bluff nonetheless. I do this all the time in low stakes and the flush draw is seemingly what scares people most. Smooth call till the scare card comes out, 8/10 times the aggressor checks I bet and he folds. Although I would hope he had a marginal hand at least to do this with.

I just dont think it would work in the long run. I did a simaler play eariler, the scare card came out, and I bet out and he called. I just think this move would be so innefective that it wouldn't be worth the bluff.

My experience lately suggests it can be +ev. Certainly not at a dynamic table, like early in a tourney when folks are moving around fast, but once you get to a static or stable table, and get a few reads, then it can be +ev. It will never work if your table image is too loose. However of all the bluffs, the flush bluff is hard to beat.

Coulda been a bluff, but as dj says, you led him to believe you were weak. 1/2 pot bet at the flop is okay, but then 1/4 on the turn and check the river says, I've got a marginal hand, I'm losing steam.

The problem is, you do have a marginal hand so you don't want to build a big pot. Unless you've got a read on him, as played I'd fold the river too.

The talk afterward as much as anything is an attempt to try to increase your tilt, so ignore that. I've made the same river flush bluff against stronger played hands but I ignore the question as to what I had.

yeah, if your worried about the flush than you don't give him odds to chase it, you bet to price him out of the pot, if you think your hand is the best on the turn you should be betting AT THE VERY LEAST 4/5 the pot.

If you were worried about a marginal kicker than you shouldve probably check the turn bet the river, or check turn and call the river if you know he's capable of a raise or bet no matter what hits on the river, Rather than bet the same value, that basically tells him what you have.
